Whew i got nothing better to do but here goes
C1 - Is it... real?
My name is Lun. I was a student who lived alone no family no nothing. People wouldn't want to get near me for some reason. It's been like that since then until now... It seemed like I was always out of place like I was cursed. This world I thought was cruel. I believed that I just would live my life like this... Just dragging on and on without a purpose but to live... The world wouldn't be much better or worse if i continue on would it?
One day I woke up... it was the weekend... I had to go to work otherwise I'd have nothing to eat... I changed my clothes and headed off. I locked the doors to my house. I never really figured out who left this for me. I was just plucked out of the gutter and told to live here. Back then someone would send money just to keep me alive... that I never knew for what reason. These days I have to work for myself. It isn't such a big deal. I shrugged it off as some sick plot to torture someone for their lives.
"Agh... man I hate Sundays..."
I said to myself as i walked down the street. The sun shining high in the sky. It was almost noon and it was sweltering, it wasn't uncommon this time of the year. The hot summer air poured down heavily like hot blanket on me. Wiping the sweat from my head i trudged on. I reached downtown after half an hour. I walked in the bar which I worked in. And got into uniform.
"You look like a mess, boy", my manager told me
"Agh... its just so hot recently", I said in a coarse tone
"What would you expect. It's that time of the year again", he said chuckling as he patted my back
"So what do i do today boss?", I said still down from the heat
"I just want you clean out the storage today. And put up all the new stock", he said as he walked away
I set up for the storage room as soon as I finished changing. The storage room was located in the basement. It was much cooler down there. I just had to check out the empty racks and clear them out. I have to do this every week so I'm used to it. My job here is usually random. Sometimes I get night duty sometimes day duty like today. I've stayed awhile since the manager was nice to me. One of the few people who were. Time flew by that afternoon with all the work to be done.
I left around sunset with my paycheck in my pocket. As the orange light of the setting sun colored the street in a crimson glow. I walked back home I suddenly felt hungry. I decided to take a stop by the mini-mart down the road. I bought beef and vegetables since I was feeling great today. I walked back home when the place was covered in an indigo hue. A few steps on the street and I felt a sharp pain at the back of my head. I fell unconscious.
I woke up an hour later. In an alley not far from where I stood without my food or my paycheck in my pocket. It seemed that I was knocked out robbed and tossed in the alley. I touched the back of my head.
"Agh... damn..." I said in pain. "Just my luck I guess I'm just gonna have to eat leftovers again."
I brushed off the dirt from my clothes and continued back home... But since I was just ticked off I decided to walk around to cool off.
That night when I walked home I stood by the pond nearby and tossed a rock in. The water luminescent with the moon's light the ripple of the water as the rock hit the surface seemed to calm me down. Life was terrible. I had to bear it for years and this time I could just give up, at that instant I wished to be somewhere else a different world place dimension heck even if I died upon getting there I didn't care anymore. "It would be better than staying here". I angrily tossed another rock at the pond and proceeded to walk home. When I got there I decided not to eat and just sleep. I dropped on my bed and slept.
I woke up the next day staring at my ceiling, it was a strange feeling... it was like something was out of place. I shrugged it off and got dressed for school, I picked up my bag and walked out the door, the sun shining down, as I walked down the street to school, greeting schoolmates and whatnot, the feeling returned... the feeling that something was wrong, It was hard to ignore I felt as if I was daydreaming. I got to school on time but had that feeling nagging me behind my head. Have I forgotten something important? What was it? I walked in the classroom and stared out the window... I thought "Maybe I'm in a dream...", I pinched myself to be sure. I wasn't dreaming, Class started before i knew it, as usual I stood through class just staring at the chalkboard and scratching my desk. I packed up my things and walked out the room, I had a strange feeling of walking around the campus that day. So I did, I walked across the gym, campus grounds and finally the garden. I never knew our school was so large... then it hit me this wasn't MY school. I hastily opened my bag for my ID and everything it scared me to see that I somehow "existed" here my ID and uniform were of this school. Freaked out I ran across town soon after my discovery. Nothing I knew or remembered was there, the strange feeling of knowing every place in this town, and not knowing it at the same time, have I... left my own world...
I walked "home" to what my supposed home was. I dropped my bag and fell on my bed and slept in an instant. In my sleep I thought this is crazy if I'm not back where I came from then this place is all real... Either that or I'm comatose in a hospital. I shrugged and drifted off to sleep.
C2 - Chance?
It's been a week since I got here life was much better here. So I made the best of it. I got a new job, I made a few friends. Everything was in my mind perfect. One day in school I met someone I never saw before even with my somewhat strange "omnipotence" of this town the girl stood shrouded in mystery. I stared at her in class as if I was under her a spell. When class ended I stood on the roof staring at the sky I thought of a lot of things then I thought of her. I felt a chill run down my spine when I thought of the girl. I stretched and walked down the stairs. I decided to linger on campus a bit longer than usual. I lay on the garden grass, the scent of grass and warm summer air wafting around. I noticed something at the corner of my eye. The girl I saw was leaning on a tree nearby staring at me. I jumped and crawled backwards on impulse. She was pretty about medium height fair complexion her hair was crimson red. She continued to stare at me as I backed away. Then as logic took over.
and I asked "Err... what do you want with me?"
She replied "I don't seem to have met you before. It's like you suddenly came out of nowhere..."
I then answered "In truth... Call me crazy. But... I don't really think I'm from here, It was like one day I suddenly appeared here. I'm still a bit confused at the world but I'm trying to make the most out of it."
Then she giggled and said "So you must be..."
She then ran off without a word. Dusk approached as the school was suddenly covered in a purplish hue. It was getting late so I decided to walk home. The streetlights turned on as I walked across the street. Lost in my thoughts as I walked down the street.
"That was a weird day... or more specifically that girl was weird..." I said to myself
"I guess I'll just ask them tomorrow. Its getting late." I continued as i pulled my bag over my shoulder.
I walked home with a smile on my face for once. But I couldn't help wondering or more specifically I couldn't help feeling that she had something to do with me being here in this world. The words she said "So you must be..." kept ringing in my head. I felt somewhat insane by the time I got to bed, I really couldn't stop wondering. I somehow got to sleep amidst all that.
I woke up the next morning earlier than usual sleepless and tired my thoughts still transfixed on the girl. I had to get ready for school but by the time I walked out the door I was so dead tired that I almost fell asleep on my porch. Luckily or unluckily one of my new friends found me curled up on my porch. He then kicked me into getting up.
"LUN! Get the hell up man." my friend yelled as he kicked me.
I got up hitting my head on my door brushing the dirt off my face and clothes. I was too sleepy to yell let alone feel pain so I casually replied.
"Hey Kiro, what brings you over to my lawn...",I said still yawning and still brushing off dirt
"Dude don't tell my you slept on your porch because you lost your keys"
Kiro Vess one of the so called lunatics of our class known for being a complete perv, getting sent to the principal's office 3 times more than a delinquent and causing trouble in major events... or so I'm told. I met him last week peeking at the women's shower room at the gym. He asked me to look out for him just in case, before we got caught we were able to escape by hiding in nearby lockers. Since then we've been hanging out. I'd usually leave him when he's about to do anything reprehensible.
"I didn't I just didn't get too much sleep last night I was up late last night thinking about..."
"As fascinating as that story of yours is I think we'd better get off to school"
We got off my yard and headed off for school. The scent of morning air only making me sleepier. I continued walking sleepily off to school. Half the way I was dragged by Kiro. As soon as 1st class started I was asleep on my desk. The teacher came in to announce it was "club day" the day to check inquire and join school clubs. It was gonna be a free day to walk around pick and join for students. As soon as Kiro heard that, he went all crazy again and tried to drag me by the collar.
"Lun!!! GET UP!!! ITS CLUB DAY!!" he yelled as he nearly tore my collar off and choked me to death on it
I fell off my table and hit the floor still drowsy. Before I knew it I was dragged out the room. I then slapped myself into sense and alertness as he was about to say something very very stupid.
"Lun this is our chance!"
He then showed me a huge amount of micro cameras stuffed int his bag.
"I've been up all night preparing these babies"
As soon as I saw them I knew what he was up to. I stood up straightening my uniform. and said
"Kiro, I know what you're up to and quite frankly I am not gonna be a part of it."
I walked away only saying,
"If you have the chance get me some club fliers or something... see ya ay lunch or something"
I headed for the school infirmary soon after just looking for a bed to sleep in. As I opened the door I saw the girl right there in front of me with a smile on her face.
C3 - So we really meet?
She stood there in front of me... I froze up for a moment as if something terrible was going to happen. It felt as though reality bent, but I guessed that was just fatigue. She stared at me like a cold emotionless stare that could break people. I regained control of myself after a moment. I then spoke to her.
"Err... what are you doing staring at me like that for."
"You seem shocked to see me" She giggled as she spoke
"I am... but aren't you a bit surprised as well"
"Nope, not one bit the school is a small place after all" she said hopping on one leg seemingly examining me
"You seem to have been expecting me here" I said walking over to the bed
"Who knows?" she said in a rather sarcastic tone
I jumped on one of the beds and stared at the ceiling, for some reason I didn't feel so tired anymore. The morning air and smell of various medicine embraced the room in a nice yet weird atmosphere. We just stayed there without talking or anything. It seemed awkward but I guess it might be better off that way. then...
"Hey, What's your name anyway" she said abruptly
"Oh me? Lun..." I replied
"Lun...?" She questioned
"Yes, just Lun" I said almost instantly
"Lun? hmm why just Lun." She asked somewhat politely
"It's just Lun since I dont have a family... no one but me I was just picked out given a weird name to tag me and tossed to live alone... where..." I groaned
"Oh I almost forgot I've never seemed to meet you before yesterday" She said as she walked up to me and stared at my face
"That's because I told you I just seem to have been brought here... Oddly it seems that everyone knows me well enough as I've known them... Except you" I said as I turned over now looking at the window abruptly avoiding her gaze
"Hmm just me? I guess it really is 'you' ..." She said in a seemingly mystic tone as I heard her jump on a bed
"What do you mean by 'you'" I turned over to notice she was lying down next to me staring now at my face. I flinched a bit but managed to keep myself composed. I wasn't very used to being around people especially girls...
"Ahh 'you' someone not originally from 'here'... Just like me" She said.
"Wait one second? You're not from 'here' either?" I said surprised
"Yep~ I'm not from here I've been 'here' for about half a year already" She said happily
"Why do you seem so happy?" I asked
"Since there's someone 'here' like me ~~" She said then holding my hand
"Err... this is a bit awkward for me" I said a bit embarrassed
"That's fine... It's a bit for me too" She said still not letting go
"Wait... aren't there any others?" I said still having my hand gripped
"Nope... just you and me~" She said in a slightly mischievous tone
"Ok... that just sounded weird I think I'll just go get lunch now" I said in a slightly freaked out tone as I snatched my hand back
I got up off the bed straightened my uniform and tried to run out. Only... She then grabbed my hand
"Hey why don't we have lunch together and talk more" She said as she dragged me out the door.
I just kept my mouth shut as she dragged me to the school cafe. I had a feeling she wouldn't take no for an answer. So I bared with it. Soon after we got our food she dragged me off to the roof. The sun shining down... It was already noon, I seemed to have lost track of time in the infirmary talking to her. I wasn't too hot so I guess she had the right idea to eat here rather than our stuffed cafe. I took my food from my bag and leaned on the side of the roof. I started
"So before I forget... who are you?"
"Mmmmmfff... Oww dath" She said with food in her mouth
"Eerr... I think you should swallow that first" I said about to take my first spoonful of my rice bowl
"*gulp* Oh, I haven't introduced myself have I? ... My name is Chisa Mirune" She said taking another bite of her huge sandwich
"You're quite different around food aren't you ... eer don't answer that just yet" I said staring at how much she ate so far
It wasn't so much a strange lunch. Although Chisa ate a lot ... even half of mine. I guess it was a fun lunch. We talked a lot... It was kind of odd for me. I never really talked this much with anyone back where I came from. It was a strange yet nice feeling. I somehow felt we could understand each other. After lunch we decided to rest.
"Hey Chisa, why do you stick around me anyway" I asked stretching before I sat down
"I don't know, but Lun but I just feel like we're in the same boat and can understand each other, I never really felt that with anyone 'here' and 'there' you know..." She said placing her head on my lap.
"Err..." Before I could interrupt she was asleep
And so began my days. I never knew what was going to happen next. I never expected one bit of it. What awaited me.
It was the afternoon when I woke up. I guess I fell asleep, I never realized it. I stood up and stretched. The afternoon sun setting on the roof and Chisa nowhere to be seen. I put my hands into my pockets to find a scrunched up note.
"See you again Lun ~"
I guessed she went home. So I decided to pack up and leave. I headed back to the infirmary to pick up my bag. Only to find Chisa sitting there staring out the window.
"So... you haven't gone home yet?" I asked
"Oh me? Nope I don't have a home here when I got here I was just lying here in the infirmary with a small bag of clothes nothing more. I usually just sneak around here in school and wash my clothes in the restrooms and dry em off at the gym. People never really notice." She said in a somewhat scary tone
"... So how do you get money to eat?" I said kind of worried
"Oh that... I just work around town on the weekends doing odd jobs" She said seemingly happy
"... *sigh* Looks like your life's been quite rough since you got here. It's not really for me to say but..." I stuttered "If you want you can live with me"
I guess I could understand the way she lived by how I lived but having no home and just sneaking around campus... That isn't something I'd expect someone like her to be doing.
"Really?!?" She said her eyes tearing up a bit
I just nodded
"Thanks... I promise I won't bother you too much~" She said as she jumped on my arm still teary eyed "Oh yeah... I have to pick up the rest of my clothes at the gym"
"No worries, I was headed off there anyway, And don't cry... it makes me feel weird" I replied
"Ok, I'll stop" She said rubbing her eyes giggling a bit
We both walked to the gym, Chisa still hugging my arm. She ran off a bit once we got in. I headed over to the lockers and knocked on the one I suspected.
"*sigh* You know I expected this..." I said to the person inside the locker as I opened it
"Geez, I guess today didn't go as planned" Kiro said falling out of the lockers
"You never learn do you... As I would like to hear what you've done today, I think It's best to leave that for another day" I said leaning on the lockers
"Ergh... I'll get them for this" Kiro said as he got to his feet.
"Hey Lun... you done yet?" A voice came from beind me
"Ahh... yeah we should head home now" I said looking at Chisa
"Then lets go" She said jumping on my arm again
"I'd like to know what YOU DID today Lun" Kiro said staring at me
"I just went to the infirmary and at lunch that's all really" I said as I picked up my bag and headed for the door
Chisa leaning on my arm looked quite cute... What am I thinking... I just met her yesterday and now this... Weird day I had... I guess that was what was on my mind as I walked home that day. The sun has set the entire place was quiet by the time we had gotten home. Chisa seemed to be asleep when we got there, so I carried her off to my room and let her sleep on my bed. I headed down for a snack, thinking of today's events. All I said then was "Well looks like I'm sleeping on the couch today". I was too tired to care, I just dropped on the couch and fell asleep.
And so began my days... I guess back then life was quite calm. I never knew what was in store for me. I never expected much. But nothing could prepare me for whatever was right around the corner...
C4 - A step toward truth? or A step forward?
I woke up the next day feeling a bit of pain on my back. I guess It couldn't be helped. Then I smelled something... something... burnt, I immediately got up. To my surprise Chisa was standing next to me staring at my face.
"... What are you doing up so early" I said still rubbing my eyes
"I made you breakfast." She said with a smile on her face
"Did you sleep well?" I said as I stood up
"Yep... say... was that your bed?" she said with her hands behind her back
"Yeah... it was." I said stretching then placing my hand at the pained part
"...You shouldn't have... I told you I'd try not to bother you for this" She said with a tone of regret staring at my back
"It's not much of a big deal besides you were tired weren't you?" I said standing up straight
"I was but..." She said before I interrupted
"I said it wasn't a big deal I just stretched something in my sleep it happens a lot" I obviously lied
"... You aren't a very good liar Lun" She said spotting me
"Fine fine... just don't think that I'm bothered too much I'm kind of used to it really." I said as I walked over to the dining area
The food on the table seemed to be cooked properly neatly enough with only the exception of a few burnt parts here and there but its probably not enough to kill me or give me a stomachache. I guess that would explain the burning smell. What seemed quite odd though is that the smoke detector didn't trigger or that there was no smoke at all. I guess that is a mystery I wont solve any time soon. I sat down on the table opposite of Chisa. It was an odd feeling eating breakfast with someone else and having it cooked for me too. I guess it was due time to let go of my lonely past. I ate breakfast, unexpectedly the taste was surprisingly good... well the non burnt parts to say the least.
"So... how was it" She said looking at me intently
"I guess it was good would've been nice if it wasn't burnt here and there you know" I said picking up my plate and putting it on the sink
"Ehehehehe... sorry about that I sort of daydreamed in there thinking of things" She said giggling in a somewhat scary manner
"Say Chisa... don't you have anything to do today?" I said
"Hmmmm... nope none in particular... why?" She said
"Since I'll be going out today I'd be worried if you were ok here alone."
I said with a bit of worry
"I'll be fine anyway... what are you going to do out there?" She said
"Oh... I have work today, we need money to eat you know." I said in a matter of factly tone
We talked a bit after that. Chisa washed the dishes while i jumped in the shower. I guess life was kind of calm. I wished everyday was like this. I know this part of my life would be bound to end one day but... you cant help but think you never want it to end. What am i thinking... Well this is my new life and I did say I would make the best of it... I'm thinking too much.
I stepped out of the shower still a bit confused with myself. It seemed as though these days came by so fast just a month and now all this... Ergh... why am I thinking again. I jumped in my room ready to get dressed. I guess Chisa is trying to get used to this... maybe not I laughed since she seemed used to about anything. When I was done I walked downstairs. Chisa was wearing an apron it looked cute. She was standing there as if she was waiting for me.
"You're going already?" She said looking a bit sad
"Yes, I'll be back later around dinner time you don't have to wait up for me" I said in a cheery voice
"I'll fix the house while you're gone" she said in a kind of awkward manner
"... this conversation is kind of weird isn't it?" I said since i wasn't used to this
"*giggle* for me too, but its kind of fun" she said happily
"Well I'll be off now, be good Chisa" I said patting her head
"Stay safe Lun, I'll wait for you" She said as I walked out the door
Getting on the street the strange feelings came over me again. They felt the same as when I had gotten here for the first time. I couldn't ignore them as hard as I tried. It felt as though it had something to tell me. Something truly important. I just tried to shrug it off as I walked. Then I heard a familiar voice calling out to me.
"Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeey Luuuuuuuuuuun!" The voice called out
"Egh... Kiro what do you want?" I said walking faster trying to avoid him
"Oh cmon man don't be that way, It's something important today" He said in a serious manner
"Ok... what is it?" I said in disbelief
"It's about that girl yesterday... that Chisa girl who keeps getting high grades without even going to class... thats her right?" he said utterly serious
"Yes it is her, why?" I asked
"Apparently theres more to the story" he said still being serious
"M hmmm... go on" I briefly said
"Over the course of the past 6 months she seemed to have a couple of boyfriends she just stuck to but never got too far" he continued
"Isn't that quite normal?" I said without a worry
"Thats not it the strange thing is the guys never remembered anything about her" he said
"Oh? wait... how do you know this stuff, really sounds like some kind of old urban myth or something" I said
"I overheard it while I was stuck in the lockers, and when I saw you I decided to check... Its the same story everywhere all their friends remember but the guys they don't, the rumors around all say shes a witch or something" he said almost shouting
"I see so you're concerned?" I said
"Yeah man the guys usually end up severely weakened or hospitalized before they forget, you don't deserve that" he said
"Oh... don't worry about me I'll be fine, Chisa is nice she doesn't seem like the type to do that" I said defending her
"Just be careful is what I'm saying, As a friend I don't want you to end up that way" he said
"Well thanks for your concern but I have to get to work" I said walking off
As I walked away I said "I bet you're concerned that no one will get you out of lockers when I'm gone huh?"
I heard him trip and laughed half the way to work. I guess I knew there was something odd and off about her. And even if it is the truth I'm not just about to drop her. Besides I guess it's ok even if it's true there are much worse things than that anyway, recalling my life those were my thoughts. And so there is probably a reason isn't there?
I got to work early for around 8 minutes. Wasn't much time to rest but I'll take what I have. I changed into a waiter uniform since that was my new job. Time flew by frantically getting orders and whatnot. Before I knew it I was heading home. On my way home I decided to get Chisa something to eat like a snack or something. I'm never really good at things like this since I hardly ever interacted with people. I decided to get a small slice of cake since I knew girls liked cake.
I headed home quite happily that day. Almost forgetting Kiro's little story but after a bit of thinking I guess I shouldn't care about it. Besides I'm pretty sure shes not the type to do that. Or perhaps... I guess it was the burnt food. I've seen guys back then nearly die of burnt food from their girlfriends. I just laughed thinking that. The night air was pretty cold for a summer night. I got home after a few minutes. I wasn't so surprised to see Chisa standing at the door waiting for me.
"Lun, you're late." she said in a bit of a an angry tone
"I kind of got distracted on the way back, *chuckle* anyway I brought you some cake." I said raising the plastic bag on my right hand
"I was a bit worried about you." She said
"It's ok to be a bit late or early every now an then you know." I said
"Mfff" she grumbled
"Wait, how did you know when I was supposed to arrive?" I asked
"Hmm. your weird friend came over here around an hour after you left he seemed like he was looking for something so I let him in I just asked him after he left" she said
"Agh... that idiot. Anyhow what did he seem to be looking for?" I asked again
"Hmm. now that you mention it nothing in particular he just ran around looking at places." she answered
"Eh, I guess I shouldn't worry too much about him he's always up to something" I said walking in the gate
"Oh, I cooked dinner already. It's still hot so lets eat." she said happily
"Ok" is all I had to say or could say.
We walked in our "home" and ate dinner happily. I took a bath and she cleaned the dishes. Nothing out of the ordinary. Dinner wasn't the least bit burnt I guess stuff was perfect. I got dressed and was surprised when I walked out the bathroom. Or maybe I shouldn't have.
I might have to cut short for now I'll be back when time permits classes are starting again -_-
