Mother Snake

I feel your hatred in these constricting embraces from the thick air full of tension and anger.
Even the oxygen around you screams at me, "Run, run! This monster will eat you whole!"
With your slitted eyes and forked tongue, you look straight through me,
grabbing my weaknesses and slipping into the darkest depths of my soul that even
I don't want to visit. My heart and ears don't want to listen when the snake grenade explodes in your mouth
and you let out all the nastiest hisses a snake could have.
It stinks of blood. Your blood and mine. Your blood in
mine. Creating and consuming all that I was born to be and all that I am.
It's hard not to jump into and wallow in the cool pond of sorrow
when I'm burning from the blue flames of depression.
You haunt even my dreams. My very few dreams I have as an insomniac.
I would have liked to say a night owl, but you like to hunt
birds. My encounters with you have left me with clipped, battered wings.
Pre-dreaming, I always fear the monster
in the closet or under the bed. For when I close my eyes,
(my neck feels strange, as if someone was choking me)
you are the first monster I imagine.

Quite the opposite from what I used to write, lol. But hey, Edgar Allen Poe wrote during the greatest times of his depression as well. The strange structure is something I did "'cause I felt like it". Lol. I just felt like I needed to emphasize some key words or points.
