Prologue
The Twin Moons of Halkeginia is shining brightly tonight as well. In the Queen chambers of Tristain Palace, a figure of a woman working could be seen. Henrietta is working late tonight as well. After the Battle of Rosais, the Queen has been getting even busier as of late. The name list of the deceased in that battle was beside her and she was signing the documents regarding it. One name could be seen at the bottom of that list, 'Hiraga Saito', the familiar of her best friend, Louise Francoise. She thought to herself, Poor Louise, she lost her familiar in that war I so selfishly start. How could I ever make it up to her? However, she herself understood best that there was no way she could.
*Knock* *Knock*
A soft knock was heard on her door and a voice she knows well sounded out.
"Your Majesty, it is Agnes. May I come in?"
"Yes."
The door opened and a woman carrying a candle walked in. It was Agnes.
"Your Majesty, it is getting late perhaps you should rest. It is not good for your body if you stay up late so often."
"I understand Agnes but I need to finish these documents at least. If not I cannot bring myself to sleep."
"Understood. Then, on another matter, I wish to enquire about the formation of this new knight corps that Your Majesty spoke of the other day."
"Sure. What is it that you wish to enquire?"
"Is it really necessary to form such a corps? I don't think such a small force will be a significant force in war."
"I did not form that knight corps with an intention for it to be used in the war."
"Then, for what....."
"It is a corps that shall be under my direct orders, just like the Musketeer Corps, however since the Musketeer Corps is made for my protection in mind, it cannot move as freely as I want it. This new corps, the Magic Knight Corps, shall be a special unit made to conduct special missions."
"Special mission?"
"Yes, since only 1 pair of eyes is not enough, I have made another. The Commander is someone that I trust as much as you, Agnes. His family, the Arcaine Family, has as long a history as the Valliere Family and has a long history of associating with the Royal family as well. Louise and I have known him for a long time; a childhood friend I suppose you call it."
"I see. If we put more people that Your Majesty trusts in the court then Your Majesty would be able to do everything easier."
"Yes, that's right."
After that, Agnes retreated back to her quarters as she feels she should not disturb Her Majesty any longer. Henrietta once again immersed herself in the documents stopping occasionally at names that she knew or seemed familiar of. She understood that she should not be sadden by this event as she was the queen of the country. She needs to be strong for her people and be their supporting pillar. However, when she imagines how sad the families of these soldiers and the sad face of Louise Francoise, her tears flowed down without any thought.

A small battalion of knights were lining up in formation was seen on an open field. In the front, a young man in knight armour that looks no older than 20 was seen directing the knights. A Chevalier's crest was seen on his mantle, meaning he was a high ranking officer. A title given only to those whose strength has been recognized by the Cabinet and Her Majesty.
That young man, Lyness, obviously looks too young to be a Commander of Knights however, the fact stands that he is. It would seem odd to other people that a knight corps was established by the Cabinet but in reality this corps was actually a collection of elite mages that could also fight using the sword. A SwordMage is actually a very rare group, for mages almost never learn the way of the sword thinking it unnecessary while swordsmen were mostly commoners that aren't mages. Which is why this battalion was fairly small; too small to be called a battalion in fact. Today would be the Initiation of the Magic Knights Corps whose commander is Lyness.
Lyness De Vela Von Arcaine. Also known as Lyness the Cutting Wind. A young man in his late teens, one of the youngest commander in the history of Tristain. He has graduated from the Tristain Academy of Magic 2 years ago skipping 2 years due to his excellent scores. A genius that was awarded the title of Chevalier during his student years and has gone on numerous dangerous mission and awarded a medal on Excellence of Service a few years back. He has now been promoted to Commander of Magic Knight Corps for his great feats and talents.
It is already time for the Initiation to begin. Queen Henrietta was seen sitting on top of the stage with a few attendants and guards around. Then the trumpets were sounded, marking the start of the Initiation. Henrietta rise with her wand in hand, Lyness walked up the stage and kneel before Henrietta.
"I, Queen of Tristain Henrietta de Tristain, bestow the title of Commander of the Magic Knight Corps upon Chevalier Lyness De Vela Von Arcaine. You, owner of a noble soul unmatched by any, do you swear to honour and protect me, the country and its people?"
"I swear, on my honour and my life."
"Rise, Chevalier Lyness."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Smiling Henrietta said,
"Henceforth, the Magic Knight Corps are established with you as the commander. Be sure to live up to the name and work hard so you would not tarnish my name."
"Yes, Your Majesty. I, Lyness De Vela Von Arcaine, shall do my best so I shall not tarnish your honourable name Your Majesty," said Lyness with a deep bow.
"Come to my quarters after this, I want to have a talk with you."
"As you wish."

After the initiation, as Henrietta has ordered, Lyness made his way up to the Queen's quarters. After being granted permission, he enters the room.
"Chevalier Lyness De Vela Von Arcaine, has arrived as summoned."
"Please rise, Lyness. There is no need for formalities when no one is looking, we are friends after all."
"But that would be rude."
"Lyness....... I said no formalities."
Henrietta's smile seems to carry a slight irritation. Sighing, Lyness conceded defeat and stopped being formal.
" *Sigh* It seems you are still as stubborn as always princess."
"That is what I should say to you Lyness, why are you being so formal considering the fact we are friends? Or is it that you do not think of us as friends?"
"But the fact remains that you are now the queen of the country. Shouldn't you care about what others will say if they heard you now?"
"There is only you and I in this room is it not? Then I don't see anything wrong with this."
"Alright, alright, you win ok? I won't be 'formal' with you when its only you and me and Louise ok?"
"Good."
Lyness walk over to a chair and sat down then started talking again.
"So, what's the deal? What's with suddenly establishing this Magic Knights Corps? I don't think it's the Cabinets' decision so it's yours right? Tell me the reason."
"Well, there are a few reasons. One of them being I need people that I can trust by my side and the other being Louise is a Void user."
"Hey, wait! What did you mean by Louise being a Void user?!"
"We have only found out recently that Louis is a Void Element user. This matter has been a top national secret so its understandable that you didn't know. In any case, you were away getting rid of the Petite Dragons in the North so its no wonder you didn't know. You didn't come back in time for the Battle of Rosais either."
"I was sent there just before you announced the war! I turned back as soon as I caught wind of it but how far do you think the Galgen Mines is?!"
"Thats ok. I am not holding you responsible or anything. I'm just complaining but I feel really bad for about. I mean because of me and my selfish words, so many good men died. Even Louise's familiar, Saito-san."
".......... You know.... You don't have to feel so down. There may be no doubt that this war is your responsibility but you must not be sad. If you are not strong, who is to hold up Tristain? You're the the Queen right?"
"I know but....."
Henrietta said that as tears flowed down her cheeks. Lyness stood up and sat by her side holding her shoulders.
"Don't be sad. Instead, you should remember properly this incident. Etch it into your heart and never forget them as long as you live. Remember that you have to work hard for those that threw away their lives for your sake. I may not be very reliable or anything, but as long as this body of mine still breathes, I shall be by your side and support you. If anything comes your way, I shall be your shield and block it for you so you can continue to do what you can."
Henrietta nods at those words as she continue to silently cry by Lyness side. At this moment, Lyness swore to himself, I will to protect this frail girl no matter what.
