Why is it that we do things that make us unhappy?
Our roads so difficult?
Our dreams unachievable?
Our loves so abandoned?
We wish so desperately to go back
To a time before innocence was lost
To a time where life was much simpler
To a time where dreams didn't seem far fetched
We love so blindly
We feel so betrayed
When we misunderstand
And our hatred burns so brightly
Promises are forgotten
Emotions run high
What was once cherished
Is now mourned for all eternity
We walk this path of solidarity
Not aware of those who walk with us
We selfishly think we are alone
When in truth others feel the pain that we do
When the music ends
And shots are fired
Something once loved
Now lies on the floor
They profess love
They profess that it couldn't have ended
Any other way
And tears fall when their eyes
Fade in our arms
Why did we choose such a path?
A path so vile and heart wrenching
That we must kill those we love
Just to see a tomorrow that holds no light
We have seen the light
And it makes us feel the guilt
The guilt of forgotten promises
And life fading at our hands

This is pretty prophetic, and flows rather nicely. Check the third to last line, however.
Still, this speaks volumes as to what we aim for achieving in our lives. I disagree with it, but that's a different matter.

Well I wrote this after I finished the 2nd to last episode of an anime I'm currently watching. The poem revolves around what the main characters feel.
