Revolution on New Alexandria RP discussion thread

It's planned for January now. After the holidays. It'll be in a while, but with time to work in characters, plot and player investment it'll make it harder to simply abandon (in theory anyway).

Let's hope so.

January 8th 2013 is the official start date. Character sheets due January 2nd (to allow for m me to sleep off the New Year's opening drunken-ness).

Oh boy, looking forward to this though I fear this will not get much reception.

Bah, it only NEEDS 3 players (myself excluded). In fact that might clear up the delays that kill RPs.

Well, we technically have three players, Kei himself said he'd try to make time to post in the RP as Vasili.

Actually I think we need 4 in retrospect, 4 squad members and the pilot.

History

Project: Archimedes

In 2024 the Mythos Corporation began the secret development of advanced artificial evolutionary technology seeking to right the course of human history once and for all. A team of 17,000 scientists worked around the clock for 20 years to rewrite the human genome for a more perfect human race. Throughout the course of the lengthy project several million test subjects were cloned experimented on and discarded. The estimated total count was 9,783,050 lost throughout the project, but on March 5th 2025 a subject was born who was truly a different species. Archimedes, the first beta-human, was raised within the confines of the massive underground facility and unveiled to the public on the 16th of July 2041. Once the facility was discovered the Mythos Corporation was hit with several thousand charges of human rights violations, was dissolved and the scientists who worked on the project were sentenced to death. The research lived on through Archimedes who sought asylum in Norway. He established his own laboratory there and cultivated several generations of new Beta-Humans. Seeing the backlash from the project which brought him into existence he immediately established a revolutionary army annexing a small new nation, Utopia, for his new species.

Utopian War

Once Utopia was founded several religious factions denounced the species as an abomination. They sought to cleanse the impurity with warfare. During the war that followed several clandestine Beta-Human scientific societies created the first Sigma-Humans to serve as their warfighters. Easily out matching the Holy Armies which invaded Utopia they repelled the invaders to the borders of Utopia but no further. Renegade theocracies then did the unthinkable on August 7th 2060. In an effort to stamp out Utopia they launched several thousand nuclear weapons into the small nation. Though most were intercepted by Utopian defenses they overwhelmed the capabilities of the advanced grid. In a last ditch effort to save themselves the missiles were redirected away sparing the nation from complete annihilation. Needing to neutralize the radiation before irreparable damage was dealt the Beta-Human science societies developed a species capable of solving the monstrous engineering task. On December 21st 2060 the first Epsilon-Human was born. His species was given a stimulant which shortened their gestation period to a matter of hours at the cost of a 20 year life expectancy (though it was added and wasn't in the actual genetic coding of the infant species). They then set to work developing a species capable of withstanding the radiation. The Gamma-Humans were created and they, alongside their Epsilon compatriots, gradually reduced the radiation to a negligable level. All the while the ambitious Beta-Humans sought to solve the labor issue of rebuilding, thus the Delta-Human race was born. Through treaties Utopia began to establish itself as a global participant sending off specialized teams to amend the damage done to the world.

Colonization

Long after the Utopian War Beta-Human science teams managed global space agencies and began to propose several interstellar colonization efforts. Upon approval colonization began. Humanity entered a new golden-age.

That's quite an interesting read. I said it before and I'll say it again, looking forward to this RP

Hello. I was wondering about the amount of commitment you would expect from people who roleplay. Once school begins, I can participate in this roleplay only once a week.

But more importantly, I was wondering what is the writing style you would demand from players. I would write in a sarcastic and cynical manner, and break the fourth wall.

So, if I were roleplaying I would add remarks about religious jokes, since we are talking about theocracies landing us into this mess, me making the perfect sex slave using the technology we have created, or create clones that would sing K-pop music for us.

Not to mention how useless the UN and the League of Nations are.

Unfortunately due to prior experiences I'm going to need a daily commitment to post I'm using a small group for this RP to establish a baseline for the style I'm going to employ to expand that universe. I'm looking for another veteran player or two, or a really dedicated new writer. I have ideas for other RPs within that universe and this I is going to be relatively short once it begins. Once the RP is completed my next RP will be posted with due haste.

Not sure about revisions yet, I might want to read up a bit on the Tiger-Shark before giving a confirmation.
