It's a cold night, in a lonely village,
a village of rabbits, ready for pillage,
the moon runs high, a violent red,
the poor little rabbits, asleep in their bed,
away in the forest, a wolf closes in,
its place of murder, the rabbit's den,
this is the story, of boom to bust,
a classic tale, a fail to trust,
among the rabbits a wold will hide,
a wolf and rabbit, side by side.
Morning comes, the rabbits awake,
they gather together, but one is a fake,
a wolf in disguise, the skin of a rabbit,
the life of another, he would have it,
the sun goes down, a rabbit dies,
he can't escape, no matter how hard he tries,
the blood red night, gives way to day,
the day is bright, but the mood is gray,
their friend was gone, lost to the night,
there was no struggle, not even a fight,
how did it happen, where did he go,
poor little rabbits, they'd never know.
Another night, another rabbit dead,
the lonely village, now a river of red,
when the sun goes down, they quake in fear,
when a new rabbit dies, they shed not a tear,
day after day, their numbers grow smaller,
a new rabbit visits, the nightly caller,
another long night, another friend lost,
it had to stop, no matter the cost,
The rabbits all gathered, ready to fight,
ready to end, their fear of the night,
they all now knew, a wolf was there,
as for the wolf, he didn't even care,
the leader of the rabbits, proposed a game,
a down right gamble, of glory and shame,
to find the wolf, it didn't matter how,
they'd pick a rabbit, a kill him now.
All their lives, were riding on this,
there was no second chance, if they happened to miss,
if the wolf did die, they'd all be free,
but if they missed, it'd be a killing spree,
the tension runs high, while trust runs low,
now these rabbits had something to show,
they would not die, not now not ever,
these rabbits would show, that they were clever.
they chose the rabbit, that they thought best,
and decided to put him, to the test,
the rope was tied tight, around his neck,
they ever made sure to double check,
the box was kicked out, and he hanged in air,
to find the wolf, it only seemed fair,
the poor little rabbits, would know soon enough,
they'd know the truth, that life is rough.
