I'm putting everything else I am writing into a stasis hold for now. to work on this idea of mine. Rurouni Mahoutsukai Kendo(Wandering Mage of the sword?) basically is set in the fantasy realm. The time frame is not set, and I would like to Quote theotaku where he has said "hell I don't know what time period, this is fantasy here."
But the basic principle of the story follows Tsubasa a Wandering Mage/Samurai and his many adventures.
Once I get a character profile made I'll add it and polish up the first chapter I'll have it posted.

How about Edo period, or the Bakamatsu? (15th to 18th century) I'm guessing it's Feudal Japan, which is from the 12th century to the 19th century, Kamakura Period to the Meiji Restoration. For reference, Rurouni Kenshin takes place during the Meiji Restoration, but Kenshin's history came from the Bakamatsu, the final ending years of the Edo period. Samurai Champloo is very anachronistic, but if I had to place a period, it would be Edo period minus the foreigners and guns.
It's important to establish the setting, which includes the time period. Details surrounding scenery, architecture, society, etc. are reflected in the time period even if the story is fantasy. It sounds like this story is centered in a Japan-like setting, so even if time isn't given, knowing your history will give your story that much more credibility and surrealism.

That's why I said I have to polish things up a bit, and as for credible surrealism I'm looking more towards feudal Japan because of the ability to war a story around magic and demons, during this time period.

This is pretty much the character profile for Tsubasa if there are any mistakes in my spelling of words, please just let me know, I' spent a good deal of time trying to figure some of them out:

Skilled in the arts of Mahouken(Art of the Magic Sword) he roams the lands seeking his soul purpose in life. Doing anything from menial farm labor to demon slaying. Whenever he comes across someone in need of help he will do it. He caries two blades a Katana Gin Tsuki(Silver Moon) which has a silver inlay in the handle and guard, which hangs from a cord wrapped around the Obi on his left side, and a Tanto ÅŒgon Taiyou(Golden Sun) which has a golden inlay in the handle and guard. Which is thrust through the Obi on his left side. As for clothing, he wears a black bamboo print kimono, a Black Obi, with a pair of white Tabi, and wooden Geta with Black straps. As for a hair style he has a topknot that is worn in a low down position.
Personality wise he's really dull, in a sense. Doesn't say much, and just keeps to himself mostly, but is a hard worker, and will step up when the need arises.
