I didn't picked your entry for grammar, sorry. It altered some of my feelings towards it.

To the event that led to the creation of it, yes. An OP asked for thoughts. I provided my comparatively scathing critique, feelings were hurt and from there I think you can infer gist of the rest. I learned from it that not everyone is expecting the kind of critique I provide, and thus the Review Request Thread was born--and subsequently died in the server trouble shortly after.

We should really create something like this again. Perhaps a general thread where everyone can specifically request for their piece to be reviewed. I really loved that thread, and I took your critique to heart when I asked for it once.

I'm glad I could be of any measure of help. Also I'll bump+edit review request thread.

But I would like some comments in my thread, that's it, if anyone's kind enough.

Do me a favor, and use this thread for a request. Bringing back what was once useful and then people stopped using it.

If feelings were hurt from a review that at least provided constructive criticism, the person shouldn't really write at all. The scathing parts are especially the most important. I can be as brutally honest when it comes to music.

Nevertheless, thanks for reopening the review thread, Jerry. I'll see if I can get my story up soon.

What do you feel about fan fiction?

Well obviously fan-fiction is better when you know what it's based on and I don't really like much anime stuff (go figure) so I'm usually ignorant of any basis the fan-fiction sits on. This makes giving an actual review of it difficult. If it's a fan-fiction that has an entirely separate plot from what it is based on, then it's easier to give thoughts on, but at that point I just think it's bad practice to not create your own characters if you're creating your own plot.

I see. Thanks for the insight. Just wanted your opinion, since the fanfic is the first one that I just happened to start on. I've got more original stuff in the back-burner, but really, any criticism on just my style and writing will be appreciated.

More than half of your style is mechanics employed in inter-character goings on and plot advancement (this is my personal belief). I will be able to weigh in on word choice, pacing, etc, but for the most part I think the first step to great writing (fiction, anyway) is having a story to tell. I try not to get too bogged down in the "art" of writing.

Regardless of my personal philosophy just know that it's this simple: ask for a review in the thread, and you will get at least 1 (from me).

*sigh.. There's always next year.

I was very impressed with all of the entries, and I am happy to give Jericho Antares the title of "FAKKU Writer". Congratulations! And please write more, we will all be reading.

Actually, all the contest polls were stickied by other moderators after I reported those threads. It was probably Tsujoi.

I stand corrected. I would say I guess this forum is less back-water than I thought, but FAKKU is probably just more organized than I thought.

The forum has certainly improved from what it was like an year or so ago, though.
