Summer Writing Contest 2012 - Winners!

Third place huh? Not too shabby, considering it's the first time I write a short story in the King's English.

And the prize is exactly what I wanted: Free Uncensored Animated Porn.

So...not to bug anyone, but can anyone bother reviewing my work? As I've said before, it got reviews, but they were from before I made the final edit. I'm asking pretty much anyone, though obviously I would like to know what the judges thought, since it made it to Honorable Mention. The link to my story is in the Honorable Mention section.

Me too~ I'd like a review as well. Be as harsh as you can, I'll be understanding. This wasn't exactly my greatest piece, that's for sure.

Anyone's thoughts on mine would be appreciated as well. For anyone that's interested I also finally posted the alternate cut (as per coffee's suggestion of Xenon as narrator).

For the next contest, I might just ask KuronekoChan to get in as a judge if he's active or is still around. I think I'll be scrapping the Fakku rule but will still recommend people to do cameos and stuff.

So I was wondering... what are your thoughts on a Halloween contest? I don't know who'd actually host it. Could be me. Dunno what prizes I can muster for anyone, but I can try. May I know everyone's thoughts and opinions?

Well in my opinion the time range might be too short to prepare for a Winter Contest right after it ends. And as we already had a Summer Contest recently it will pretty much made us kinda drained for it too when we're just exhausted with ideas for the Summer ones~

Besides it might discourage people who tend to post longer stories as they will barely really get attention when they made their updates because it's been pushed away by these load of entries~

But are you sure that the time differences between these contests are really that short? Waar was telling me once there's a few months in between the winter contest and the Halloween, but I'm not too sure regarding that.

Exhausted? But doesn't that encourage you to craft more ideas? And it keeps those lazy writers a reason to write something.

But these writers have all the year excluding the time at which contests are held. They have more time when the forum is almost dead then the active posting times when the contests are being held.

Not really, it depends more on my free time and I got my current projects to focus on. If things will get too busy I might have to call it quits for this one~

That's kinda how my point goes, when you held so much contest in a single year it might reduce the overall time the writers could stay in peace and concentrate on their own works. See? I'm not really against the idea though, feel free to do as you wanted with it. And if the majority approves I will say nothing more~

Considering that my only writing submissions have been for contests, I'm inclined to be interested. This contest got me pumped to do even better next time, and if next time is in October, then so be it. However this may not be as heavily advertised because we get a lot of front page recognition already. Maybe a smaller contest will do and if you get a front page post, go ahead. You don't need to promise people hentai and translations, though. I know that for the regulars, the custom title is enough to strive for, as well as the experience and fun the contest generates.

I have an excellent topic for the next contest, so when will it be held?

I'm not too sure but if the majority approves, then I think I can hold it for people. I might just be able to get a prize befitting for Halloween because... it's Halloween. But I kind of agree with Xenon on this one and will try to make it not too fancy.

Should I make a poll thread for this?

It sounds more reasonable to make it into a smaller-scale contest tbh, I'm with Xenon on this one~

Writing contests give me drive to pump out stories. It gives a nice feeling of pressure. I certainly wouldn't mind a contest every 'season' so to speak; it's not like we are forced to participate or anything.

I'm only worried that it might be hard on the judges/organizers. Finding appropriate prizes, reading entries, etc. It's a lot of work! But, my vote is with whatever Rise chooses. To me, this is essentially more of a judging problem rather than a writing community problem.

Well, if I thought that I couldn't deal with it and read through the entries; then I wouldn't have suggested a contest to begin with.

True! Well, my vote is a 'yay' then. Do you have a panel of judges ready? Just wondering.

I wasn't around to see this contest unfold, but I do remember back when we did the first writing contest. It brings a tear to my eye to these seasonal writing contest become such an awesome thing and see people participating and supporting it.

That said... it is winter/holiday time o3o

I'm gonna try and get the Winter one up... but this time, it's going to be particularly hard this time...
