Recollection of Recent Events

The story is set in year 2015. The United States' war on Terrorism has led to the development of special genes. When implanted in fetuses, these genes will give the newborn children complete control over their spiritual aura. Rei, a ten year old girl and the fifth test subject, escaped from the government prison which she was imprisoned. She was found unconscious on the highway by Sora Nagasaki and Haru Nara, two high school students returning from a trip. Haru immediately became attached to Rei. She nursed Rei back to health and fed her, but peace never truly lasts forever...
Disaster struck. On a trip to the Tokyo Clothing Emporium, Rei was kidnapped by the third and fourth test subjects; twins named Jun and Junichi. While on the road, Jun had a sudden change of heart, betrayed the government and his brother, and freed Rei. After a short lived reunion with Sora and Haru, Number Two: Asuka walked in on their reunion. Instead of a thirst for blood this girl only truly desired a home, so she stayed with them peacefully. Time passed and the General grew impatient. He decided to unleash his daughter, the first test subject, Kurai on the world. Kurai was injected with genes that were still in their experimental stages. The result was a sadistic demon who felt no empathy, pain, or love. Kurai was human kind's own worse enemy, although her father was the only one she would never harm. The General threatened Haru with the slaughter of her entire neighborhood if she didn't turn number five over to him. Asuka, Jun, and Rei decided to fight the demon head on.
The fight resulted in Jun losing his left arm and Asuka nearly breaking her neck. Rei used up too much power and induced a powerful seizure. In the end Kurai's murderous persona was too great even for her, her inner demon only wanted blood. Sora and Haru arrived just as Kurai was about to slaughter everyone. Sora took pity on the hallow shell of a girl and ended her life with one shot from his pistol. The General will never forgive him. The loss of his daughter has driven him insane.

The hospital felt cold and lonely to Rei. The only things that she could look at were a clock on the wall and the hospital ceiling. The ceiling was missing a few tiles and the clock was not moving, it stopped on two o'clock. A tube was strapped to her left arm. The tube led to a plastic bag filled with IV fluid. The only noises were the sounds of the busy doctors and the heart-rate machine that Rei was strapped to.
Beep... Beep... Beep...
Haru slept in the chair next to Rei. Her head was propped on the hospital bed while she used her arms as pillows. “Haru where am I?” Haru started to stir. She looked sheepishly at Rei and wiped the saliva from her mouth. “In the Hospital, you had a seizure. Gave me a heart attack back there!” Haru stood up and hugged Rei. Rei quickly remembered the recent events. “Haru where are Asuka and Jun, are they ok?” Haru crouched over and looked at Rei with a sad look. “Jun had to get surgery on his arm, I think it is over by now. They gave him a new one. As for Asuka, I think she is by the drink machines watching the soaps. Her injury wasn't as bad as Jun and yours.” Rei looked relieved. “What happened to the black haired girl, Number One?” Haru stood up and looked away. “She is dead. Sora killed her.” Rei burst into tears.
All the lights were turned off in the General's office. The General stood erect with a pistol pointed to his temple, debating whether to pull the trigger. Then, when the monitor in front of him turned on, the General quickly put the pistol away. A tall man with short cut salt and pepper hair and a black mustache appeared on the screen. “Mister President. How great is it to see you!” The president only frowned back at him. “General Hidou. I heard how you not only let Numbers One through Five escape, but how Numbers One and Three are dead. Explain yourself.” General Hidou told his side of the story. The president was not pleased. “As of today you are relieved of your position as General. I will have your replacement arrive within the hour. Good day.” The screen went blank. Former General Hidou's eyes turned bloodshot as he placed his badge on the table. “My daughter. I have failed you...” Hidou put his pistol on the table next to his badge and pressed the intercom button. “Doctor Aya. Deliver the Serum to me this instant.” The intercom buzzed with life. “But General, if you take the experimental serum it could kill you!” Hidou slammed his fist on the button. “Just look at all the fucks I give, give me what ever extracts of the genes you made from Number One this instant!”
Doctor Aya rushed to him carrying a vial filled with a ghostly white substance. She almost tripped over her long green hair as she handed him the vial. “With this I too will feel the power those brats have, and I can avenge my daughter! TAKE MY JOB WILL YOU!?” Hidou drank the substance from the vial. His entire body started to shake. All of his muscles tightened. His gray eyes and brown hair turned black, all of the gray spots in his hair started to fill in. All of Kurai's insanity filled him. His pupils vanished, leaving an eerie blank stare. “This power is beyond my imagination! It is time for my daughter's murderer to pay!” His arms expanded in size. The skin around his biceps ripped open, exposing the muscle underneath. Doctor Aya ran out of the room screaming on the top of her lungs. Hidou's legs grew to the size of tree trunks. All of his muscles tightened and expanded. His jaw bone expanded to the size of a large dinner plate. His body has become a gruesome monster. Because his body wasn't ready for such a change, Blood shot out from his mouth and he fell over. The metamorphosis took its toll on him. The former general's mind was nearly gone. By swallowing his daughter's genetic essence, the former general has become Experiment Number Six.
A strange man with shoulder length pitch black hair walked in clapping. “Well done brother I always thought you would commit suicide before experimenting on yourself with such vile technology, guess I was wrong.” The former general's brother entered the room. He was a decorated war veteran. Metals dangled from his vest from the various acts of valor that he accomplished. “General Fuzen at your service. I am here to replace this garbage. He may still be of some use to me.” General Fuzen dragged Doctor Aya back into the room. She freaked out at the sight of Hidou's appearance. “Do I have to be in here right now, I mean I do not think he has any vitals to read!” General Fuzen kicked Hidou's deformed body out of the way. “You are here to monitor his transformation. Report any abnormalities. Also, Tell some guards to put my brother in a cell where he belongs, lock him up in Number One's old cell.” Doctor Aya pressed the intercom. “All guards within vicinity; report to wing seven, office eight. Removal of alien substance. Relocate to Number One's cell.” Four guards came in wearing gloves and hygiene masks. They dragged the newly formed behemoth out of the room. “Leave me to my work Doctor.” Doctor Aya bowed and ran out of the room.
“So brother what exactly were you chasing?” Fuzen walked over to Hidou's old computer and began to go through his brother's files. “So you had the perfect specimen all along brother and you let her escape? How foolish! She bares the genes of all the others. Her powers could be endless! When she awakens, she may not even need a body anymore!” Fuzen clicked on a password protected file. Cracking the password was simple because Fuzen was a master hacker. The information inside the folder was beyond his comprehension. Every line led back to one person. When she was born, how she was born, and why she was born. “This is the holy grail! You fool, you discovered IMMORTALITY!!!!!” Fuzen's eerie laughter rang through the office as he saved the super weapon's data onto a flash drive. “I will find you little miss weapon of mass destruction. And when I do I will rip your soul right out and take your immortality for myself! NUMBER FIVE!”
Achooo! Sniff.
“Need a tissue Rei?” Haru handed Rei a box of tissues. “Want to know a fun fact? When ever you sneeze, someone is talking about you!” Rei and Haru laughed as Rei blew her nose. Asuka walked into Rei's hospital room carrying two sodas in her hands. “You must be thirsty, drink up squirt.” Asuka tossed the soda to Rei, but Haru caught it in mid air. “Leave her to rest Asuka, this poor girl just had a seizure. Her body must be tired.” Haru handed Rei the soda. “I'm fine, really! The nurse told me I could leave tomorrow if my scans were good.” Haru reached down and hugged Rei. “When you get home we will throw you a party, k?”
“I am glad to see that you are alright Asuka. Is Jun out of surgery yet?” Asuka sat down in the chair next to Rei. “Yes he got out this morning, hes in his room across the hall resting. I think Sora is in there with him. That robotic arm of his will take some getting used to, I'm sure. So squirt, you hungry? I'm sure I can sneak you something from the hamburger joint without being caught.” Asuka winked at Rei. “That sounds good, thank you.” Rei blushed and covered her face with her blanket. “Be back in a flash.” Asuka walked out of the room, leaving Rei alone with Haru. “Rest now Rei, when Asuka gets back don't push yourself to eat.” Haru kissed Rei on the forehead and walked out, leaving Rei in the room alone. The beeping from the heart-rate monitor was somehow soothing. Rei drifted off into a deep sleep.
Beep... Beep... Beep...

Chapter 2
A Messenger From Beyond

“Rei? My daughter can you hear me?” A sweet voice echoed in Rei's mind. Rays of radiant light filled her mind as a woman phased into her line of sight. The woman had dark pink hair, lustrous green eyes, and a kind smile. “My sweet daughter, you escaped.” Rei tried to shield her eyes from the light, but to no avail.
“Mama, is it really you? You are still alive!” Rei ran towards her mother, but the distance between them grew greater the more Rei ran.
“Yes my sweet angel, but I am no longer of the living. I returned to bring dire news... I was murdered the day you were conceived. I was supposed to carry the genes of the perfect specimen. The “Holy Grail” I was called. I was the true fifth test subject, but there were some...complications... I fell in love with a doctor that tended to me, and well... when I gave birth to you all of the genes they altered in me were passed down to you... You are in terrible danger, my daughter. You must not let the government take you. The monsters seek to extract my genes from you... You carry a terrible curse from within yourself... You must get rid of the weapon before it is too late...You must find true happiness...REMEMBER...You aren't a weapon... Do not let anyone tell you different...My sweet beautiful flower.
I... L o v e... Y O U...”
The light vanished and only darkness remained. Then, Rei heard the sound of Haru's screaming. “REI WAKE UP! REI” The heart-rate machine was on overdrive.
BEEEEEEP BEEEEEEP BEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP
A strange male voice could be heard. “She is coding! We are losing her! ONE TWO THREE!” A tight feeling was coming over Rei's chest, like someone was pushing against her repeatedly. Then, she woke up, only to see Haru crying over her and a man dressed in a doctor's uniform performing CPR. “She's awake. You gave us quite the scare little miss, welcome back.” Rei glanced over at Haru, who dried her tears and hugged Rei tightly. “I thought I lost you.” Rei hugged her back. “It was just a bad dream.”
Asuka walked in carrying two hamburgers. “What's with all the fuss?” Haru wiped a tear from her eye. “Just a bad dream, Rei is fine.” Asuka handed a burger to Rei. “You look pale, something happen?” The doctor walked over to the sink to wash his hands. “She just had an epileptic seizure and stopped breathing. I will prescribe some medicine for her and we should be able to release her within the week.” Asuka placed her hand on Rei's forehead. “You are one tough girl. Eat your burger before it gets cold, or I may just steal it from you.” Rei unwrapped her sandwich and began chewing on it.

Chapter 3
Getting Used To The Norm

The hospital finally decided to release Jun and Rei the following Tuesday. Rei was prescribed pills to make sure she doesn't have any more seizures, and Jun's left arm was completely replaced with a robotic arm. His robotic arm moved to his every will because of a series of small wires linked to his nervous system. It operated just like his old one did, and even expanded when he wanted it to. “Jun your new arm is cool.” Rei poked at Jun's robotic arm as they walked away from the hospital. Haru took extra care to buy Rei new clothing for her return home. Rei wore knee high white stockings, a blue skirt, and a white blouse. Jun had new clothing as well. Haru bought him blue shorts, with a red shirt, and white socks. Both of the children had new shoes.
“Here is a glove to put on your new hand, to keep it dry in case it rains.” Haru handed Jun a long black glove, which Jun graciously accepted. “Thank you Miss Haru. You have been nothing but kind to us since we came here. What can we do to repay you?” Jun's freckled face turned a shade of purple and red. “Just stay with us, you and Rei are like my children, I can't let you go!” Haru skipped merrily next to them, leaving Sora to carry all of the bags from Haru's recent shopping. “So Mr. Sora is the father in this relationship?” Haru's face turned redder than Jun's hair. “In your dreams Jun, He and I are just friends!” Asuka walked next to Haru and grinned evilly. “Friends huh, then why does your face turn pink every time you look at him. SMOOCH SMOOCH!” Haru grabbed Asuka by her cheeks. “Knock it off already I told you it's not like that!” Everyone laughed; everyone except Sora, who passed out somewhere on the road from the exhaustion of carrying Haru's bags.
They finally made it back to Haru's house. Sora came in shortly after. After Haru scolded him about dropping her clothes, the girls decided to go take a shower to get the sweat off of them. “I don't even remember the last time we had a good bath. It seemed like ages ago. Here Rei, a present for you.” Haru handed Rei a rubber duck with a bow on top. “These things make bath time more fun, I had one when I was a little girl. I saw it in the store and saw how cute it was. I knew you would like it.” Rei took the duck from Haru's hands.
QUACK
Rei giggled at the noise it made when she squeezed it. “It is so cute, I love it.” Haru was pleased that she got Rei to stop feeling depressed. Ever since Rei left the hospital, it seemed that there was something on her mind. “You know those bunny pajamas that you love so much? I bought you a new pair! The old ones had holes in them, but the new pair looks twice as cute, they even have bunny feet!” Rei's eyes lit up. “Asuka I even bought you some real pajamas, so don't you worry about a thing.” Asuka walked into the bath and undressed. Rei followed, holding her new rubber duckie close. Sora and Jun already left for Sora's house, to have a bath also. Jun's new arm is removable, so he can bathe and not get any water in it.
“Asuka how do you use your powers and not pass out?” Rei sat in the tub and watched her new duck float on the water. “I practice meditation to calm my spirit and astral projection every night, why? You want to learn how to fight?” Rei nodded. “I want to get strong just like you and Jun. I am too weak!” Haru grabbed Rei. “What is this fighting nonsense, neither of you are going to fight, ever again. I won't lose either of you!” Tears streaked from Haru's eyes. “If one of you died I do not know what I'd do.” Asuka put her hand on Haru's shoulder. “I will teach Rei meditation so she wont have another seizure. I promise that we will not fight again.” The girls held out their pinky fingers and sealed the promise.

The old ones had holes in them, but the new pair looks twice as cute, they even have bunny feet!” Rei's eyes lit up. “Asuka I even bought you some real pajamas, so don't you worry about a thing.” Asuka walked into the bath and undressed. Rei followed, holding her new rubber duckie close. Sora and Jun already left for Sora's house, to have a bath also. Jun's new arm is removable, so he can bathe and not get any water in it.
“Asuka how do you use your powers and not pass out?” Rei sat in the tub and watched her new duck float on the water. “I practice meditation to calm my spirit and astral projection every night, why? You want to learn how to fight?” Rei nodded. “I want to get strong just like you and Jun. I am too weak!” Haru grabbed Rei. “What is this fighting nonsense, neither of you are going to fight, ever again. I won't lose either of you!” Tears streaked from Haru's eyes. “If one of you died I do not know what I'd do.” Asuka put her hand on Haru's shoulder. “I will teach Rei meditation so she wont have another seizure. I promise that we will not fight again.” The girls held out their pinky fingers and sealed the promise.
Chapter 4
Otherworldly Experience

“Alrighty, Rei it's time to get out.” Haru lifted Rei out of the bath and wrapped a towel around her, then proceeded to dry her off. “Here's the bunny suit I promised you!” Haru unfolded a new pair of bunny pajamas. Unlike the old ones; these were light pink and cut off at just above the knees, forming a skirt. Also they had a plushy tail, not a cotton ball like the other pair. The pajamas had a hoodie attached to the back in the shape of rabbit ears. The ears were longer than Rei's forearm. The suit came complete with bunny shaped slippers.
“Haru I love them!” Rei bounced into Haru's open arms. Asuka looked at them with longing. “I didn't forget about you Asuka, here is your new sleepwear.” Haru unfolded a pair of green pajama bottoms and a matching shirt and handed it to Asuka. “I even bought you two some extra cute underwear, I left them in your rooms.” Asuka gratefully accepted her gift and changed into them. “Hey squirt, want me to walk you to bed? I will teach you how to do astral projection.” Rei took Asuka's hand and walked with her to the bedroom next to Haru's.

Leave behind all fears and focus on the experience.” Rei's breathing started to move in rhythm. Her body felt lighter. Her arms and legs started to slowly float towards the ceiling. Rei opened her eyes and looked down to see her own body sleeping on the bed next to Asuka.
“So you succeeded.” Asuka's spirit floated next to Rei. Her hair was white as snow. Her skin glowed a silvery light. “Now you are separated from your body. With this training, you can manipulative your soul without putting strain on your body. But be warned, too much time outside of your body and your soul could get lost. Your body will die without it's soul. Now get back to your body, that is enough training for tonight.”
Rei floated downwards and returned to her body. Her soul fit inside easily. “So how did it feel Rei?” Asuka sat up. “It felt weird. It felt like I was floating away, like I was going to disappear.” Rei looked at the floor with sadness in her eyes. “Once you learn to control your soul, there could be no limit to how much mastery you can have over your spiritual powers. Like me, you will not bleed anymore from using your power if you just practice on making your soul stronger. I will help Jun out as well, don't worry.” Rei closed her eyes and went to sleep. It was an exhausting day.
After the former general's gruesome transformation, The newly appointed General Fuzen relocated his office to wing six. His new office was slightly larger than the old one. The General chose blood red curtains to cover up what little sun dared to shine into his office. The red glow gave his office an insidious aura. Fuzen sat in his new throne and basked in his victory over his brother and his newly acquired intelligence on number five's genetic makeup. After he was finished contemplating his next move, he clicked the intercom button. “Major Johnson. You work for me now. Forget my incompetent brother and gather the other two majors. Then meet me in my office. We have business to discuss.” Major Johnson took a few minutes to reply. “On my way sir. I will bring Major Adams and Major Turner immediately. For what purpose do you need us all here, General?” Fuzen pulled his pistol out of it's holster. “It is a surprise.”

Major Johnson walked towards Major Turner's wing. On the way to the wing that Turner was stationed, Johnson ran into Major Adams. Adams is a six foot, three inch military machine, and has the looks to match. His dark brown hair and blue eyes makes any girl flutter. He may be good at nearly anything he does, but he has a big weakness. One of his greatest weaknesses is women. His perverted mind is always occupied with women in uniform. “Major Adams. The new general has requested you, Turner, and I to come to a meeting.” Adams' mind was already on other things. “Will you please stop looking at Doctor Aya's ass and listen to me?” Doctor Aya gave a squeal of embarrassment. “Pervert. Don't make me jab this needle in your eye!” She walked down the hallway at a faster pace. “Oh I am sorry Johnson I didn't see you there. What is this about the new general calling for us?” The two men walked towards Turner's office.
KNOCK KNOCK
The door opened slowly. A tall, muscular man with a scar on his left eye and short military style gray hair answered. A cigar dangled from his mouth. “Yeah yeah Johnson I heard that the “New General” is here and that the old one is some giant monster turd now. Bah. I could give a flying fuck if that general jumps in a river somewhere. Back in my day the leader actually talked to his men. He didn't send his lackeys to do the dirty work.” Johnson handed Major Tuner the report. “Ah so the new meat wants us to meet with him face to face. He has balls I will give him that. Alright I will meet him, hope he doesn't run home to mommy after he sees me.” The three men walked to wing six, unaware of Fuzen's plan.
“Gentlemen how nice to see you all. Sit down, we have much to discuss.” Fuzen gestured towards the three empty seats in front of him. “You all are aware that numbers one through five are all gone. Number One and Number Three are dead. Now tell me, why is this?” The three men were silent. All except for Turner. “Son, the fault lies with your shitty security system here. Your men piss themselves over a couple of little children. Back in my day we could---”

Turner's lifeless body fell to the floor. A bullet hole drilled into his skull. “Any more criticism? More blame? Yes? No? Alright then. You two are now my pawns. Object and I kill you where you stand. Get that old man out of here he is stinking up my new office.” Two guards rushed in and placed Turner's lifeless corpse on the gurney, then rushed him away.
“Now lets get to the matter at hand. My brother pursued number five, sending every special weapon we had at her. Want to know why?” Johnson and Adams shook their heads. Fuzen seemed to not notice, nor care. “Number Five, in layman's terms, is a weapon of mass destruction. That little girl has the genes of every child and adult we have ever experimented on since before World War Two. Her body is rejecting the genes now, but when her body eventually accepts them, it could spell doom to the human race. We must bring her back, dead or alive, if humanity has a chance of survival. Do I make myself clear?” Johnson and Adams didn't say a word. All they could do was salute General Fuzen and proceed to walk out. “Oh and on your way out run by the food storage and pick up a carcase for my brother to chew on. I think he is hungry. Better yet: feed him Turner!” Johnson's face turned pale.

Childhood Memories

Sora sat awake in his small three bedroom home. The window was open, letting in all of the moonlight. Jun was reading a small book on the futon next to Sora. “Jun. May I ask a question?” Jun put his book away. “Ask me anything Sora.” Sora sat up and looked into Jun's sad eyes. “Where exactly did you, Rei, and Asuka come from? What kind of place was it like? How did you three meet?” Jun lowered his gaze like he knew that question was coming. “Sora you must understand the story that I am about to tell you is a painful memory.” Jun began his tale.
“I lived in that prison ever since I was born. My twin brother and I were raised under the care of The General. He saw us as his children. He clothed us, fed us, and at one time I felt he loved us... Well until he started to change. His demeanor got colder. He started to raise his voice with every command. I truly think that the prison changed him as well. He used to always pace the floors and mutter one name. Kurai.
At the prison it was law for everyone to learn how to control their powers, so mandatory training started at noon each day. My brother and I used to spar together, and sometimes Asuka would join in. Asuka was always a bit of a tomboy, and she was without mercy in our sparring sessions. Needless to say she earned the respect of even my brother. Rei always sat by the old oak tree near her cell hugging a stuffed animal. She never had a smile. My brother saw her as a joke and even bullied her from time to time. One time he went too far"... Jun's mind trailed off, lost in his memories.
“Junichi give Teddy back to me!” Rei was only five at the time. Compared to the other children she was the smallest and the youngest. “C'mon wimp you gotta jump higher than that!” Junichi held the bear higher as Rei tried to jump for it. “Brother let her toy go now!” Jun ran over to see his brother torturing Rei. Rei fell to her knees and started to cry. “Aww the baby is crying now! Cry about this!” Junichi grabbed both ends of the stuffed animal and pulled.

Stuffing fell out of the bear. One of it's arms were only holding on by a few threads. It's ear was torn in half. “Stupid girl.” Junichi threw the toy at Rei. “WHERE DO YOU GET OFF?” Asuka stepped forward. “We were just playing, lighten up!” Asuka cracked her knuckles. “Lighten up? You are torturing poor Rei again? I'm going to kick your ass!” Asuka jumped forward and punched Junichi in the stomach. Then a silver mist erupted from her hand as she punched him again. A giant ghostly fist erupted from her, sending Junichi's body flying. “And don't come back!” Jun ran after his brother, who landed on the other side of the courtyard. “Hello, my name is Asuka. Don't worry about that asshole anymore. If he bothers you again I will kick his ass.”
Jun looked up at Sora and started to laugh. “My brother never bothered Rei again. Hey Sora, how did you and Haru meet?” Sora looked up at the ceiling. “Well I moved to Tokyo when I was six. I knew nothing about this place and kept to myself at school. One day a bully pushed me down in the hall and a girl I never seen before came out of nowhere. She helped me up and even put a band-aid on my cheek. We started to become friends, and then we learned that we lived right next to each other. Funny right? I remember it like it was yesterday.” Sora closed his eyes in remembrance.

“Ow. Why did you push me?” Sora cut his face when he landed on the floor. The cut on Sora's cheek caused the irritated spot to turn bright red. An older boy smirked as Sora tried to get to his feet. “Sora is a girl's name! You are a girl!” The boy pushed Sora down again. Then a small girl with blonde hair jumped in front of Sora and lifted her arms. “Hey you big meanie pick on someone your own size!” The bully just laughed. “Hey look another girly.” The crowd around him erupted with laughter. “That is enough Mister Minamoto.” A short woman with long blue hair and hawk-like eyes walked over to the fray while carrying a long ruler. “I am sorry. Don't give me detention Mrs. Principal!” The principal dragged the delinquent down the hall.
“Thank you. You saved me.” The girl in front of Sora blushed. “Why is Hiro always picking on you?” Sora grabbed his bag off of the floor. “Because he's a jerk... When I grow up I'm never going to be mean to nobody!” The blonde haired girl grabbed Sora's arm. “I love a nice boy. My name is Haru Nara, what is yours?” Sora's face turned red with embarrassment. “ Nagasaki. Err... Nagasaki Sora. Er... Sora Nagasaki. I'M SORA PLEASED TO MEET YOU!” Haru giggled. “Ok Sora, pleased to meet you, lets be friends!” She kissed him on the cheek.[/i]

“Sora is it alright for me to come in?” Haru took off her shoes at the door and entered Sora's house. “Why not, you will anyway even if I say no.” Sora teased Haru playfully as he helped Jun fold up the futons. “Sora this is serious. I think we need to get out of Tokyo for a while, the government knows where we live. My parents' old summer home near Yokohama just got renovated, lets go there for now.” Sora walked out from his room with a toothbrush in hand. “How big is your summer home; can it fit all five of us?” Haru took a second to think. “It is about eight bedrooms, two baths, and has a lake out back. Is that big enough?”
After going over the details with themselves, Sora and Haru went next door to share their plan with the girls. “Everyone pack your bags because today we are leaving Tokyo. My summer home is a good place to get away from things for awhile, so we are heading there, any questions?” Rei raised her hand. “Why are we leaving, Haru?” Haru patted Rei on the head. “Because the mean men are still after us, this way we can run away and have fun doing it. There is a lake out back, so you can swim and play. School doesn't start back for another three months, so I'm sure my parents wont mind us borrowing the summer home for a little while.” Rei, Asuka, and Jun started to pack their clothes in the bags that Haru supplied them.
Jun walked over to Haru and tapped her on the shoulder. “Haru how is it that you and your parents can afford so much?” Haru smiled a slightly embarrassed smile. “Well you know those soaps that Asuka loves to watch? Well my mother kind of is the star of one of them. And my father is a screen writer. So yeah. I am sort of loaded.” Sora laughed at Jun. “Could have warned you not to ask her that. She doesn't like being rich and she prefers the simple life.”
“Rei, be a dear and put these bags in the van.” Rei took the bags from Haru and walked outside. A dark skinned man with an army uniform was waiting for her. “Mister Johnson why are you here? Leave us alone please!” Rei dropped the bags and tried to run back inside, but Major Johnson grabbed her hand. “Please Miss Rei I mean you no harm, I am only the messenger. I wish to express my deepest regrets for what has happened over the last few weeks and I wish you could forgive my role in it. You are in grave danger Miss Rei. General Hidou's mind is gone. He is now a monster. There is a new General and he is much worse than the last. He kills without second thought. He plans to kill everyone you hold dear and extract you soul. You need to run as far as you can before he finds you. Good day.” Johnson walked towards his unmarked government vehicle and drove away. Rei stood on the sidewalk and thought about Johnson's warning.
“Rei what is taking you so long?” Sora walked out to see what he problem was. Rei was standing on the sidewalk staring off into the distance. “You look like you had seen a ghost. Why don't you come back inside?” After a brief lunch of grilled chicken and rice balls, they set off towards Haru's summer home.
“Major Johnson. It seems that you alerted the enemy to our plans and disabled the surveilance camera that we set up across the street from Miss Nara's home. How very unfortunate.” General Fuzen looked quite unhappy as he watched the surveillance tape of Major Johnson shooting the camera with his pistol. “I do not want to hear any more excuses; hold out your hand.” Major Johnson held out his left hand. Fuzen pulled out a large knife. “This is for all who oppose me, but I will keep you alive. For now." Fuzen raised his knife in the air, then slamed it on Johnson's hand.

“ARRRAGH!” Johnson's Thumb and forefinger fell to the floor. Blood dripped from his mutilated hand and flooded the carpet.
After going over the details with themselves, Sora and Haru went next door to share their plan with the girls. “Everyone pack your bags because today we are leaving Tokyo. You need to run as far as you can before he finds you. Good day.” Johnson walked towards his unmarked government vehicle and drove away. Rei stood on the sidewalk and thought about Johnson's warning.
“Rei what is taking you so long?” Sora walked out to see what he problem was. Rei was standing on the sidewalk staring off into the distance. “You look like you had seen a ghost. Why don't you come back inside?” After a brief lunch of grilled chicken and rice balls, they set off towards Haru's summer home.
“Major Johnson. It seems that you alerted the enemy to our plans and disabled the surveilance camera that we set up across the street from Miss Nara's home. How very unfortunate.” General Fuzen looked quite unhappy as he watched the surveillance tape of Major Johnson shooting the camera with his pistol. “I do not want to hear any more excuses; hold out your hand.” Major Johnson held out his left hand. Fuzen pulled out a large knife. “This is for all who oppose me, but I will keep you alive. For now." Fuzen raised his knife in the air, then slamed it on Johnson's hand.

“ARRRAGH!” Johnson's Thumb and forefinger fell to the floor. Blood dripped from his mutilated hand and flooded the carpet.

The trip to Haru's summer house was a 1 hour, thirty minute drive from her house. Since they got a late start, the sun already started to set. Rei felt her eyes grow heavy as Sora passed through the toll road and merged onto the highway. Asuka and Jun were already asleep. Rei finally joined them. The dream that she had in the hospital returned, only this time the overabundant light was gone and her mother stood in front of her wearing only a silk gown.
“Rei.... Can you hear me?” Rei ran towards her mother. Her mother's dark pink hair and alluring emerald eyes were as beautiful as ever. “Mama I am so glad to see you again.” Rei tried to hug her mother but her hands passed right through the apparition in front of her. “My daughter... The power inside of you is awakening. Fuzen seeks this power. My daughter... Do not let Fuzen steal your power...Rei... Fuzen is the one who murdered me...” A sudden stop caused Rei to slowly wake up and come back to reality. “Mama will I ever see you again?” The apparition of her mother slowly vanished. “Soon my flower. Soon it will all be made clear...”
Rei woke up only to find Asuka and Jun staring at her. Both looked very worried. “Rei are you alright? You were talking in your sleep.” Asuka put her hand on Rei's forehead. “Nope, no fever.” Rei recounted all of her weird dreams with Asuka and Jun, leaving out the parts about being a weapon or being the offspring of number five. “So you mean to tell me that your dead mother visits you when you sleep? I wish my mother cared about me that way, but I don't even know who she is.” Asuka let out a pitiful laugh. “But Asuka; she keeps telling me sad things, like how someone named Fuzen killed her. Asuka nearly choked on the juice that she was drinking. “Fuzen!? Lieutenant Fuzen!? That's the General's brother! That guy's a nutcase! He used to work at the prison back when I was a kid. You were probably too young to remember, but that guy got fired for killing some test subjects with his bare hands. You mean to tell me that he killed your mother too?” Rei started to cry as everything her mother's spirit told her started to make sense. Haru and Sora kept quiet as they listened to the conversation.
Haru drove up a long dirt road. The sun already went down, basking the landscape in everlasting twilight. “It is just up this road, Tomorrow we can play in the lake, but for now pick a room and get some rest.” A large house came to view in the distance. This house was surrounded by trees, grass, and numerous plants of varying colors. Sora looked over at the Lake. It shimmered in the moonlight, stretching as far as the eye could see. The house itself was made out of bricks, tinted a rich indigo blue. The two story house sat majestically upon the hillside. “Damn.” The only word Sora could muster. Asuka, Jun, and Rei all nodded in agreement. Haru's face turned pink. “Well... welcome home everyone!”

Spiritual Guidance

The Summer home had eight rooms, so everyone chose the room that suited them best. “Rei you can sleep in this room with me, back here next to the lake. The view is breathtaking, isn't it?” Haru led Rei to the back room. The room Haru chose had light blue silk curtains, a queen sized bed, and a large window which overlooked the lake and it's beauty. “Rei if you have any more weird dreams, tell me. I am here for you.” Haru kissed Rei on the forehead. “Ok Haru. If my mama visits me again I will tell you.” Haru grew worried that the seizures effected Rei's mind, but quickly dismissed the thought.
Sora chose the room above Haru and Rei's. Jun chose the room next to Sora. Jun helped Sora move his belongings up the staircase and into his new room. “Sora, I am worried about Rei.” Sora threw his suitcase onto his new bed. “Yeah, me too. I hope those weird dreams stop before she worries herself to death.” Jun walked out the room and headed back down the stairs to collect his own belongings. On the way back to the van he ran into Asuka, who was busy eating an apple. She sat in the grass underneath a tall apple tree. “Hey Asuka, which room are you choosing?” Asuka swallowed the pieces of apple that were in her mouth. “The room closest to Rei. I have to keep an eye on the little squirt or she may just go crazy.” Jun picked up an apple from the grass and dusted it off. “I think her dreams are real. Maybe her mother wants to tell her something? I think Rei is keeping something from us.” Asuka took a big bite from her apple. “How so?” Jun sat down in the grass with Asuka. “She avoids looking into my eyes directly when she talks sometimes, and she has that sad look on her face again.” Asuka finished her apple and tossed the core in the trash can next to the porch. “You have much to learn about love.” Asuka pranced towards the van to collect her things, leaving Jun under the tree. Jun's face was redder than the apple.
Asuka littered the once clean closet with all of the clothing that Haru bought her. After putting her things away, Asuka went next door to see Rei. “Hey Haru the door was open, so may I come in?” Haru and Rei were busy putting their things away. Haru had to make sure everything was folded evenly before storage. “Sure Asuka, what do you need?” Haru wiped the sweat from her brow and sat down on the queen sized bed. Rei jumped on the bed after Haru. “I need to borrow Rei for just a bit. Hey Rei come to my room, k?” Rei followed Asuka out of the door and into the room next door.
“I heard from Jun that you've been keeping things from us. Spill it or I tickle you.” Asuka moved her fingers towards Rei menacingly. “I didn't keep anything secret. I told the truth about my mama visiting me...” Rei looked away. “Now there's that look again. Get tickled!” Asuka pounced on Rei and started to move her fingers around Rei's armpit and sides. Rei couldn't help but to laugh from it. Her face was red. “Oh... Kay.... STOP... HAHAHA....please? I will tell you everything!” Asuka was pleased with herself. She let Rei go. “My mama visited me when I was in the hospital. She told me to be careful and that she was supposed to be experiment number five but when I was born she passed her genes to me, and that's why I am targeted.” Asuka understood at once. “So your mother reveals more and more each time she visits, right?” Rei nodded bashfully. “Well then remember what I taught you about astral projection? Use it and speak with her directly."
“Ok lay down and relax. Remember how you did it before.” Rei followed Asuka's instructions. Her body grew all tingly. First her arm started to float, then her leg, then her torso. Rei opened her eyes and saw her body below her, sleeping on Asuka's queen sized bed.
“Mama are you here?”Rei searched the room for her mother, to no avail. Then a strong female voice came into her head. “Rei it isn't time to meet. One day we will see each other again, and we will be able to touch, but not now. When it is time you will know. Return to your body my child. Remember... You aren't a weapon... You are my child... Be a normal girl... Do not try to avenge me...

Rei was forcefully pushed back into her body. Her entire body poured with sweat. Asuka looked concerned. “Did you talk to her?” Rei shook her head. “She told me to go home. She told me it isn't time.” Asuka left it at that and let Rei return to her own room.
"General Fuzen, we have new intel that the target headed southwest of Tokyo, but we do not know where.” A brawny soldier handed over his report with haste. “I suggest that you find out where Private Smith, or it will not bode well for your wife and son.” Private Smith ran out of Fuzen's office in a hurry. “So the Holy Grail has moved to a new location? No matter. There is no place you can hide that I can't find you.” Fuzen walked over to his computer and typed in the command for a spy satellite. Now lets see where the worm has crawled to?” The computer screen started to flash as the satellite tracked Haru's license plate number. “Last seen headed towards Yokohama, Japan. Stopped at a toll road last night. I found you little roaches.” Fuzen let out a diabolical laugh. His voice echoed throughout his empty office. After he recorded the map from the satellite image, Fuzen pressed his intercom switch.
“Major Adams. Collect Major Johnson from the infirmary and have my personal tank ready. Oh and gear my brother for combat also, I am sure he is dieing to be let out of his cage.” A masculine voice answered on the intercom. “Will do sir.”

Awakening

“Rei... My daughter... He is coming... He is coming for you... You must leave now before he comes.... Fuzen knows where you are...” Rei jumped up. Her breathing was heavy. Her sudden movement woke Haru up, who slept on the same bed. “Rei what is the matter?” Rei was too distressed to speak. Tears streaked down her face. “He is coming for us Haru. WE NEED TO RUN!”
Rei's screaming caused Asuka, Jun, and Sora to run in. “Rei what is wrong? You have a bad dream or something?” Sora tried to comfort her. “No. It was no dream. Ask Asuka; my mama just warned me that Fuzen is coming, and he wants to kill all of you and take me away. WE NEED TO RUN!” Asuka slapped Rei on the face, leaving a red mark. “Get a hold of yourself. If that prick wants to fuck with us, we will show him who will do all the fucking!” Everyone stared at Asuka with their mouths wide open. “What? I watch a lot of soap operas...”
Asuka, Jun, and Rei sat outside by the long dirt road and waited for Rei's vision to come true. Jun was very worried for Rei. He grabbed her by the shoulders and held her tight. “Rei I don't want you getting hurt. Stay out of this. It is you that he is after, let Asuka and I protect you.” Rei reached up and kissed Jun on the lips. Jun's eyes turned wide and his face flushed. “For once I need to protect myself.” Asuka looked at the two as they kissed and made a devious smile. “It is about time you two kissed. I got worried that Jun didn't have the balls to admit his feelings.” Jun glared at her.
RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE
The ground started to shake as something big started to come near. Trees started to fall down in the horizon. A few minutes later a golden tank came into view. On it's side was the seal of the American Army. The tank opened up at the top and revealed a tall man with neck length black hair. “I am surprised to see you three out here in the open. Do not worry this thing is mostly for show, I won't hit you with it or anything. Besides, I am not your opponent.” Fuzen snapped his fingers. A helicopter came down and dropped off a large crate. The helicopter flew away after it made it's delivery. “He will be your opponent, perhaps you recognize him? Well he has been just DIEING to see you again.” The crate opened to reveal an inhuman behemoth. It's eyes were pure black. It's skin was yellowed and rotting. It's muscles were larger than the average humans. Long black hair draped from the top of it's head. The behemoth's jaw was the size of a crate. “KUUUUURAIAGH!”
“Is that thing who I think it is?” Asuka pointed at the deformity in front of her. “Yes I do believe that is the general.” Jun nodded. “Eww he is so nasty.” Asuka's hand started to glow as her fingers became long whips. “Time to send this fatass back to the bakery!” Jun stared at Asuka with a blank expression. “Really? What kind of line is that?” Asuka shrugged. “I heard it on the television somewhere!”
Jun took off the glove that covered his robotic hand. His robotic hand shined as his aura took over. A silver blade surrounded it, becoming larger and larger. Using the microfiber wires inside the robotic hand, Jun was able to successfully charge his aura into it and create a bigger sword than he could before. “Stay out of this Rei.” Jun and Asuka charged at the abomination. Asuka tried to strike him with her whips, they had little effect against his deformed skin. Jun ran forward and tried to slice at it with his sword. The sword cut into the behemoth's flesh, but stopped at the bone. The creature's arm was too big and filled with too much energy for the spirit sword to cut all the way through. “KURAIIIIAGH!” The behemoth punched Asuka and sent her flying, then it slammed Jun into the ground.
“That's right brother: KILL THEM! KILL THEM ALL!” Fuzen sat on his throne and watched the carnage. “STOP IT NOW!” Sora and Haru ran into the fray. Sora pulled out the shotgun that he borrowed from his uncle from the previous fight and aimed it at Fuzen. “Stop this right now or I shoot!” Fuzen seemed to be enjoying himself. “Oh brother your daughter's killer is here. EAT HIM!” The behemoth stopped pounding on Jun and glared directly at Sora's direction. “YOU KILL KURAIIIIARAGH” The behemoth grabbed Sora and started to crush him. Rei's body suddenly felt heavy. She wanted to move but couldn't. All her friends were in trouble. She had to do something. “NOOOOOOOO!” Rei's pupils vanished.
“Rei my daughter it is time... Your awakening is at hand... I told you to take pity on Fuzen, but your friends are in danger... The truth is that my spirit is inside of you all this time... You are too weak to handle battle...Do not taint your pure soul with Fuzen's murder... as my last request...let me take control until Fuzen dies...”
Rei opened her eyes. The battle was still going on, only she was no longer apart of it. Her soul was floating above the battlefield. Someone else controlled her body. Her mother's voice came out of her mouth. Her body flowed from her mother's will.
“Fuzen it is I, Rin, the true experiment number five. I possessed my daughter's body long enough to end you. You will pay for killing me in front of my newborn daughter!” Rei's body, now controlled by her mother Rin, ran towards the behemoth at incredible speed and jumped forward. She landed on the behemoth's face, pointed her finger at the behemoth's eye, and fired.

The behemoth let go of Sora. Sora's broken body fell to the ground. The behemoth landed with a crash. It's body rolled down the hillside and landed in the lake, sinking to the bottom. It's skull split wide open by Rin's blast. “No fucking way. Get away from me you witch! Soldiers retreat!” Rin jumped into the tank and stood next to Fuzen. She raised her hand. “Shut up.” Fuzen closed his eyes and awaited death. A single tear fell down his face.
“MAMA NO!” Rei floated back into her body, only to find her mother's hate controlling it. “Rei? Don't you want this man dead?” Rei shook her head.
“Mama get out of my body right now! Didn't you tell me to forgive him? Why are you trying to kill him?”
Rin hugged her daughter tight. “I still have deep hatred for this man. So deep that it has kept my spirit on earth. I hid within you, waiting for the day your powers awakened. I told you to forgive because I didn't want you to kill out of hate like me...”
Rei grabbed her mother's hand. “Please you know this is wrong. Mama stop it now. For me?”
Rin kissed Rei on the cheek. “I told you that we would be able to touch soon. The powers that you possess now give you dominion over the spiritual plane. You can freely commune with the spirits of this world and have absolute control over your own soul. This is the Holy Grail project. Your spiritual ties to this world and the next one may now be very well immortal, but your body isn't... you can still die... remember this my daughter... No mater how great the power it pales in comparison to a great heart...I will do as you ask..."
Rin hugged her daughter once more and left Rei in control of her body.
“You had your chance to kill me and you failed. Now you die!” Fuzen pulled his pistol out and pointed it at Rei. “Stand down General. As of this moment you are removed from duty.” Major Johnson and Major Adams both stood next to Fuzen and had their pistols pointed at his head. “You dare betray me?” Fuzen glared at his two Majors.
“I should have done this ages ago.” Johnson pointed his gun at Fuzen and fired.

“That's right brother: KILL THEM! KILL THEM ALL!” Fuzen sat on his throne and watched the carnage. “STOP IT NOW!” Sora and Haru ran into the fray. Sora pulled out the shotgun that he borrowed from his uncle from the previous fight and aimed it at Fuzen. “Stop this right now or I shoot!” Fuzen seemed to be enjoying himself. “Oh brother your daughter's killer is here. EAT HIM!” The behemoth stopped pounding on Jun and glared directly at Sora's direction. “YOU KILL KURAIIIIARAGH” The behemoth grabbed Sora and started to crush him. Rei's body suddenly felt heavy. She wanted to move but couldn't. All her friends were in trouble. She had to do something. “NOOOOOOOO!” Rei's pupils vanished.
“Rei my daughter it is time... Your awakening is at hand... I told you to take pity on Fuzen, but your friends are in danger... The truth is that my spirit is inside of you all this time... You are too weak to handle battle...Do not taint your pure soul with Fuzen's murder... as my last request...let me take control until Fuzen dies...”
Rei opened her eyes. The battle was still going on, only she was no longer apart of it. Her soul was floating above the battlefield. Someone else controlled her body. Her mother's voice came out of her mouth. Her body flowed from her mother's will.
“Fuzen it is I, Rin, the true experiment number five. I possessed my daughter's body long enough to end you. You will pay for killing me in front of my newborn daughter!” Rei's body, now controlled by her mother Rin, ran towards the behemoth at incredible speed and jumped forward. She landed on the behemoth's face, pointed her finger at the behemoth's eye, and fired.

The behemoth let go of Sora. Sora's broken body fell to the ground. The behemoth landed with a crash. It's body rolled down the hillside and landed in the lake, sinking to the bottom. It's skull split wide open by Rin's blast. “No fucking way. Get away from me you witch! Soldiers retreat!” Rin jumped into the tank and stood next to Fuzen. She raised her hand. “Shut up.” Fuzen closed his eyes and awaited death. A single tear fell down his face.
“MAMA NO!” Rei floated back into her body, only to find her mother's hate controlling it. “Rei? Don't you want this man dead?” Rei shook her head.
“Mama get out of my body right now! Didn't you tell me to forgive him? Why are you trying to kill him?”
Rin hugged her daughter tight. “I still have deep hatred for this man. So deep that it has kept my spirit on earth. I hid within you, waiting for the day your powers awakened. I told you to forgive because I didn't want you to kill out of hate like me...”
Rei grabbed her mother's hand. “Please you know this is wrong. Mama stop it now. For me?”
Rin kissed Rei on the cheek. “I told you that we would be able to touch soon. The powers that you possess now give you dominion over the spiritual plane. You can freely commune with the spirits of this world and have absolute control over your own soul. This is the Holy Grail project. Your spiritual ties to this world and the next one may now be very well immortal, but your body isn't... you can still die... remember this my daughter... No mater how great the power it pales in comparison to a great heart...I will do as you ask..."
Rin hugged her daughter once more and left Rei in control of her body.
“You had your chance to kill me and you failed. Now you die!” Fuzen pulled his pistol out and pointed it at Rei. “Stand down General. As of this moment you are removed from duty.” Major Johnson and Major Adams both stood next to Fuzen and had their pistols pointed at his head. “You dare betray me?” Fuzen glared at his two Majors.
“I should have done this ages ago.” Johnson pointed his gun at Fuzen and fired.

Dawn of a New Day

Haru rushed to Sora's aid. She tore off a piece of her blouse and made a sling for his arm. “Sora you big dummy why must you always have to play the hero?” Haru started to cry on Sora. “Haru I told you before that I will never be mean to anyone right? That also means I have to help people too.” Sora tried to get to his feet but the injuries were too great. “You idiot why must you hurt yourself so much... If anything happened to you I wouldn't know what to do! YOU IDIOT I LOVE YOU!” Haru started to cry on his chest. “Shut up and kiss him already, sheesh.” Asuka propped herself up on Jun, who used his robotic arm as a crutch. Sora and Haru embraced each other as they locked lips. Sora's first kiss was also his wettest because Haru wouldn't stop crying. “Haru after we get out of the hospital will you marry me?” Sora let out a weak laugh. “Of coarse I will you big dummy!” Asuka burst into tears. It was a happy ending after all.
“Rei I am still within you. Call upon me whenever you need strength or if you need guidance. I have decided to not go to the afterlife and to watch over you instead.” Rei's mother spoke to her in the kindest way possible. “Yes mama, but promise me you won't take over my body again... it felt weird.” Rei finally felt happy. Her mother was with her always, She had a family, and now Sora and Haru would be getting married.
“Miss Rei.” Major Johnson bowed at her. “You will be pleased to know that I've taken the liberty of erasing Project S from the government databanks. You shouldn't be pursued anymore. The president is scheduled to be impeached as we speak on grounds of treason. The prison that contained you and your friends will be torn down and made into nothing more than a distant memory. Now let us properly introduce ourselves.”
Johnson and Adams pulled FBI badges out of their military jackets. “We both work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Many years ago we were called to work the case of the president himself who was suspected of treason, but this was only the tip of the iceberg. Once we uncovered the data Project S, we began to tear at the foundation of it's creators. Hidou, the general before Fuzen, was close to being convicted. But certain events caused his case to be put on hold. After Fuzen took over we lost all contact with the outside world. In his iron-fisted dictatorship, we had to adapt quickly or be killed.” Johnson held up his hand, showing where Fuzen chopped off his fingers. “Thanks to you we laid this tyrant to rest. Your secret is safe with us. Good day. We will have a medical team escort you to the hospital shortly.” The two agents walked off. The sun was just starting to rise on the new day.
