Called it... saw that ending coming from a mile away and not gonna lie, this one hurts.
While their character designs were identical, it's now actually confirmed from the phone picture on Page 24, with the caption "Me and Saayan", that Hina is the unnamed friend of Yana and Sayaka that was introduced in Dietary Studies. Hina calls Sayaka on Dietary Studies - Page 3 Saayan.
As for how Sensei seduced Hina, you just know since he's the literal definition of a scumbag he was probably acting like the friendly, understanding, nice older Sensei towards Hina and basically duped her with that fake persona, all the while showing his true nature by blackmailing and torturing her mother behind her back.
There's a special place in Hell for where Sensei is going!
-@gammenon, for me it's less about Higashide Irodori being only confined to vanilla work or what the fanbase expects, but mostly about how out of no where these last two chapters felt and how much they clash with the tone of the other chapters in the series. It just feels like Higashide Irodori could of just made "A Study in Substitutes - Part 1 & 2" its own separate two chapter story.
Changing up what an artist (storyteller) usually does shows some versatility in fruitful storytelling and is a plus overall to their body of work. However, it can also backfire horrendously as well, esp if the artist does a title contrary to what their established fanbase likes. But I can't tell how this title will affect Higashide Irodori's future trek of themes. [Addition: You have some company here wanting to reread Budding Strawberry and Lemonade.]
Well, if the story were going all the way, it would likely not only have a chapter with him having sex with the daughter, but it would likely ultimately end with him having sex with both of them together. Certainly, that would be the classic way to go, but given the lack of "to be continued" on this chapter when the first chapter had it, it does seem more likely that this was the intended ending. The focus was the mother with just enough of the daughter to see that the mother's sacrifice was pointless. Maybe we'll get more someday though.
The only real issue with this story I have is I don't understand how the sensei was able to seduce the daughter considering his apparent lack of charisma. Considering how much time he spent banging the mother, it would be hard to work his game on the daughter unless she was getting paid for it.
The ending makes a nice sharp point of first read, it dulls significantly over time. This could all be fixed with another chapter that explains how it happened. The daughter getting trick or coerced into it as well would be a cool touch, but this story feels like it needs more of an explanation.
Yeah, it’s one thing if it seemed she was coerced into interacting with him like her mom but she’s all about it on her own free will. Some tie-ins to the story is needed.
If would have been karma if the mom ran into the sensei and her daughter in front of the motel and she just spilled all the beans then and there. Daughter is shocked and upset, they both start yelling, a crowd is there and police show up and the two talk about blackmail and sex with minor and he gets taken away to jail.
Hmph...I wonder how he got to the daughter. Did he use some trickery like the blackmail her mom fell for or is she just a naughty vixen that all he needed to do is flirt with her a little and she came willingly or is she a jk girl, or whatever it's called? In any case, it looks like the mom fighting against his mind-bending was for naught.
Welp, hentai storytelling is generally against [or having a tendency to lack] karma for some reason. There are exceptions here and there, of course, but generally, [it’s like] the thief robs the First National Bank, never gets caught, and then retires and dies on a beach chair at their resort while still holding a martini in one hand.

Higashide Irodori's "Study" series.
Studying Misuzu-san
Love Hotel Study
A Tutor's Lessons
Dietary Studies
A Study in Substitutes - Part 1
A Study in Substitutes - Part 2
-I gotta be honesty and say that for me, "A Study in Substitutes - Part 1 & 2" kinda just ruined what was a great vanilla toned series from such a great, primarily vanilla artist.
(I'm just gonna go reread Budding Strawberry and Lemonade)
