A fair warning: While nothing is explicitly stated or shown in the chapter, the story comes with some potentially very dark implications. While it might leave room for some interpretation, don't go into this expecting a happy outcome.
I was about to say! 99% amusingly silly, but then you think about that last page for a minute and your neck breaks from the mood whiplash. Still, one can hope the last few panels suggest a happy ending for her, somewhere out in the world.
There were some warning signs. Page 7 "I'm used to doing this when I mess up." and page 10 "Men can't stay mad when you do this." She was clearly trained to handle angry men. What makes it worse is that she had no thought toward condom use. Hopefully the boy gets checked for STDs soon.
I shouldve read your comment before jumping into this one... Didn't saw tags I dislike so didn't think twice about it. I get upset rather easy (even with comics, dumb I know, I'm a big softy), so I usually stick to Vanilla, or if the tags aren't "bad" and the comments (which I didn't read know, my own fault) tell me that the story is somewhat lighthearted. This release did a number on me... Feel so sad now haha..
That first line on page 7 made my "well, fuck" meter spike. Page 10 absolutely red-zoned the meter in my head. But good on him for basically IMMEDIATELY bringing it up to a trusted adult. Great art, and I don't regret reading it, but absolutely not a fappable piece for me.
I'm used to doing this when I mess up...A man can't stay mad when you do this...I don't know, I'm too stupid to tell.
That right there is a girl who has suffered under years of sexual and mental abuse.
It sounds like her mom might have suspected something was going on but couldn't prove it, and her husband and Akari would both deny anything was going on between them. Him because he's a effing jerk and her because she was probably told that her stupidity would break up the family if she told anybody.
Even if by beating around the bush Ikkun told his mom about Akari thinking that because she's stupid and messes up all the time that she feels the only way she can not make a man get mad at her is by having sex and that it seems that she is used to having sex all the time, probably helped remove any lingering doubt about what was happening to her.
It's a shame that these scenarios don't usually get found out for quite some time and the life long damage is already done.
Nothing like a little lighthearted reading on a Sunday morning. Boy, I think I read this before but for some reason I didn't comment on it. I'm not going to comment [about the actual content of the story] now but I will say that this is why after reading a title like this, sometimes I start watching something on WE or the Lifetime network.
much darker than expected. I feel a sequel should be made to at least give it a better coclusion. Its pretty clear the other guys is not that bad and deep down he cares for her.
In the final panel, Ikkun is nostalgically reading "Shonen Chump" (which Akari enjoyed), and he looks rather pensive. He probably feels guilty and wishes he had been kinder to Akari.
She was very likely simple-minded, and later addled from the abuse. Whether that was simply her nature, or upbringing (and abuse) is one of the darker issues here. Taking advantage of someone just because they're not as smart as you is just as much of a common social issue as people doing doing so for appearances, grades, wealth, relative class level, etc. The real problem is less naturally intelligent people are moire likely to never be discovered and helped out of those situations because they're more likely to accept that kind of abuse as status quo than someone "more intelligent" would.
well that some serious U-turn drift to shitsville.....population: a very fucked up father and company.
its just me or the fact that she says "men cant stay mad with me when i do thiss" implies that, while the father might be the pricipal culprit, other people took advantage of her?
It's possible other men might be involved, but I think Akari is being evasive by speaking in general terms, and that (up until Ikkun) she had sex only with her father.
The Big Clues have already been pointed out by Bandit35, Sogeking79,
and AssasinZAssasin, so I have little to add except this:
Akari actually isn't stupid; she's ADDLED---driven half-crazy by severe
psychological abuse, meted out by a father who's apparently a sadistic,
hyper-critical monster. Thanks to him, she's convinced that she's hope-
lessly stupid, that everything is her fault, and that the only way she can
atone for her failures and shortcomings is by having sex with her father,
in order to placate him.
With that in mind, Akari's sexual encounter with Ikkun becomes down
right disturbing. Since he's angry with her, she feels compelled to give
him sex (in the same way she tries to mollify her father), but it doesn't
work. Even during sex Ikkun becomes angrier and angrier, until poor
Akari has no idea what's wrong or what to do about it, except to keep
apologizing over and over, for anything and everything, because some-
how it must be her fault.
Her utter misery is enough to make a strong man cry. I can understand
why YQII issued a special warning. In its subtle, understated way, this
chapter is extremely dark and disturbing---all the more so since Ikkun
winds up treating Akari just as badly as her father does (if not worse).
Quite the title. Coupled with the warning in the comments, well, it doesn't sound like a very happy release.
"I'm used to doing this when I mess up", huh. I guess she must have done this countless times whenever men get mad at her. Almost like...It's ingrained into her that 'this is what to do in a situation like this'.
Dark implications indeed. Considering that ending and her dead eyes when she mentioned she's 'too stupid to tell', coupled with the fact that apparently her mother got a divorce afterwards probably implies some kind of sexual abuse, perhaps?
At least our protagonist decided to tell someone about it to try and help her...Well, get some help. One can hope she eventually recovers, and still have the chance for a happy life in the future.
This story takes a turn. The characters make me angry. Angry that the protagonist would be that upset with her, angry that she would do that as some pavlov effect, and angry at the father for what he did.
A good story like this makes me angry with all the characters, but for different reasons. It's good art and masterful storytelling.
A good story incites emotion, a great story twists those emotions up and up and up.
dark and disturbing. I can understand why you felt the
need to issue a special warning.
