This chapter is a good example of a certain tone or mood I call "gentle
perversity." We have a girl crossdressing as a prince, and a boy cross-
dressing as a princess, and everyone is cool with it. Plus, one of the
girls is openly crushing on Ikegawa (page 1, panel 7), and everyone
is cool with that, too.

If only the real world could be so tolerant and open-minded.

Agreed. It's a subtle mood, not really easy to make a tag for, or to pin down, but one that's popped up enough times to be noticeable, and almost always on works I consider of the highest quality. One of my favorite "moods" that a work can have.

I tip my hat to a fellow connoisseur.

There's another subtle mood I call "dream-like," which is also
difficult to define or achieve. Yahiro Pochi's Sister X Lecture
is an excellent example. Karma Tatsuro's quirky stories often
evoke a dream-like mood.
