(In hushed, serious documentary tones) Checking back on our subject the lizard girl, we check in on our remote cameras. What is this? It looks like our little lizard has caught the rarest of all prizes in the animal kingdom, the hardly ever seen male tsundere. Way to go Liza-san, keep up the good work, we'll be rooting for you.
It's been a while since I've read a good romance/monster girl story. I'll definitely follow this author. (Does anyone know if they got a pixiv or Twitter? Would like to follow them there too.)
THIS is what NaPaTa’s After Quest should have been like. Immediately we see goblins getting their ass kicked, setting the fantasy stage. Liza is a lizardfolk, which is something far less often used than elves. Elves are fine, they just lose their fantasy impact when you dress them in street clothes.
I think there was more effort put in too. Liza is in a tavern with her friend for like 6 panels but Aja did an establishing panel showing a lively tavern with people enjoying drinks while in After Quest we get an establishing panel just of the doors and sign of the tavern. Maybe it’s NaPaTa’s style, but they didn’t seem to do many backgrounds period. It’s just the characters floating in space.
Lastly I just wanted to mention how goddamn cute and likable Liza is. I burst out laughing when I read that “I want piggybaaack!” line. Let me put it this way: would you rather watch an anime with Ado and Liza or Rusty and Fio?
Sorry I keep shitting on After Quest but I just feel like simply because a story is done by an established name doesn’t automatically make it a “masterpiece” and rookies deserve similar praise.
