Hmm...It looks like Ai might have been a Hesiod harpy that got snatched up by one of her kin at the end. I wonder if Masaaki will try to rescue her or she'll return after her other wing grows back.
Never have we read a chapter with so many unanswered
questions. However, Ai's missing wing is a big clue.
I believe Kazuaki rescued Ai after she was attacked
by winged creatures that tore off one of her wings.
The attackers were either members of her own kind
or of a different predatory species.
When Masaaki and Hiiragi mistakenly took Ai outside,
those unknown creatures swooped down and carried
her off, probably to be torn to pieces and devoured.
It's such a dark and disturbing theory that
I could barely bring myself to write it down.
EDIT:
This chapter really got under my skin.
I'm almost sorry I read it. Weep for Ai.
Orrrrrr Kazuaki was the one who stole her away and ripped off her wing, and she was caged down in the basement so her feathered family wouldn't be able to find her. So when she came to the surface they snatched her away. Could go both ways, I suppose, neither ideal situations though.
I have...so many questions I will never get answers to. Did the dad like...dewing her to keep her grounded? Was her own kind after her? She didn't seem like she was misleading at any point as though she'd escape, and it's pretty apparent she was nabbed by what I can only assume to be her own kind. Whose safety are we guaranteeing here? Hers? I hope nothing bad happened to her, but it seems to me the dad was obsessed with her rather than looking out for her interests. Rather it seems like any humans who have close contact with her get rather obsessed with her. This was probably the best thing for her?
I'm pretty sure that she can read minds and perhaps even manipulate them.
I have a bit of a theory. Maybe, assuming she was discovered after losing her wing, she had lost her memories, so the manipulation is being done on an instinctive level, but the other characters seem to lose all rationality when they are near her. It's also possible that she has other abilities, such as the ability to regenerate parts of her body at will, but given her amnesia, she is only reminded of the purpose of her wings when she sees the birds flying overhead. This ultimately leads to her taking flight herself, leaving behind her caged existence after perhaps having remembered herself.
It's a thought, at least. There's very little that can be said for sure about the plot, other than the fact that she was acquired by the young man's father at the same time that he disowned his son, and this winged girl, who clearly has supernatural powers, escapes or is captured by other winged creatures after being let out of her cell in the mansion basement by her new lovers.
Uh, ... well That was certainly Something Completely Different. Or perhaps it's something out of an episode of "Lifestyles Of The Rich And Kinky (or something like that)."
