Well, Bastian wasn't able to even speak to Moon Child using the talisman she gave him, because it would defy her will (Neverending Story, the book version). And Lucifer realized that everything he did or thought he could do was because his father allowed it and was all part of god's plan (Paradise Lost).
In the end it doesn't even matter as the author can pretty much do everything he/she likes and we can either enjoy the ourcome or get salty over it (the time paradox created by Eddie from the Flash (not our Eddie, our Eddie doesn't fuck with time. At least not that bad...) by killing himself and erasing Reverse Flash (but not everything he ever did) still angers me...)...
