My heart is racing, my head is running wild, and I haven't been this hot and bothered in a long time. You know, I was a bit sad when I heard this was being made because I loved how Dolls #2 ended from a literary standpoint. However, all of that went away after reading this due to the sheer amount of eroticism dripping from this chapter. Esuke is a goddamn genius.
Fun Facts: Esuke intended for Dolls #2 to be the last part. However, Esuke was interested in a sequel, so made a Twitter poll asking fans if they wanted it. It was around 65-35 in favor of a sequel. Also, Esuke also has tweeted that this is the final chapter, so regardless of how you felt about the end, this is it unless Esuke has another change of heart.
[edit from the two months in the future] Hi folks, in March, Esuke actually made an epilogue to the Dolls series called "Dolls ~After Story~" in Weekly Kairakuten #34 in preparation for the release of his third book. It's pretty short, but it's colored. Based on how FAKKU handles Weekly Kairakuten, we will probably get this on FAKKU in a few months. You can find more info about it by checking out Komiflo, Weekly Kairakuten, and Esuke's Twitter's. Shoutouts to Serypti's reply to this comment which reminded me to make this edit. Give it some upvotes to let FAKKU know that you want Esuke books. Anyways, GET HYPED!!!
Consider how much of a hit this series was, i really want a 4th part. Even the ending was left ambiguous with potential for a sequel. This time its him that was left with the Sting of Lust. Wouldn't be surprised if the the Finale is a full cuck show. Having the husband watch as they have sex.
Esuke's recent tankouban has a fourth chapter - Dolls ~After Story~ - in it, but unless Fakku licenses the tankoubon, we're obviously not going to get that chapter here. So, hopefully, they license it.
But I gotta be critical for a second. As much as I love the artist and wish to support them, I feel like the ending to this is little unsatisfying because of the absence of the husband. I mean, he’s the catalyst for how this whole affair came to be and yet they leave him hung dry. Why? He’d get off to this and would probably love the idea if his wife getting her brains fucked while he’s away. I just feel like he’s an important character too and without him, this is just cheating. Not Netorase. And that’s not what we started with so this feels empty. It’s erotic and sexy asf, but it’s missing an important element. This deserves a revisit. Maybe a final chapter where the husband, wife, and colleague discuss their future. Ending with the husband giving up his “right” to sleep with his wife and leave her pleasure to his colleague. It’s erotic and it’s still Netorase.
Well, the husband pushed her into another man's arms, so lol on him. Considering this wasn't her idea in the first place judging by how apprehensive she looked in Dolls Chp. 1, she deserves to drive the bus at this point. Moral of the story, don't whore your wife out especially if she's clearly not ok with it.
I agree that there are problems about the story in this part. I'd like another part to clean up some loose ends but I sadly don't think we are gonna see another chapter after "Dolls ~After Story~" (it's a short chapter in Weekly Kairakuten #34. It doesn't seem to have any major plot points, but I don't know Japanese. I'm guessing it will be on FAKKU in a few months). Here is the reason why I think so:
A month or so before Dolls #3 Esuke tweeted pictures of a woman inbetween two men at an airport. In one picture she is kissing the man to her left, in the other the man to her right. Esuke said (via Google Translate) that he wanted to portray this kind of relationship in a hentai: where one woman belongs to two men. However, he was having difficulty with it and in a reply to a fan he mentioned wanting to do this without it going too NTR, which in my interpretation means going with a realistic scenario. With this in mind, you can really see that Dolls #3 was his attempt at this. Having another sequel with the things you mentioned would go against the realism that he was going for and just fall too deep into a NTR route.
IMO he never intended to make Dolls #3 but did so because of the fans and/or his editor. I think this because of the fact that he used a Twitter Poll to gauge interest. He then put himself in a creative box which may have caused the product to become something he didn't really like, which decreases the chances for continuations in the future. If this really was the case, I wish he would have taken more time to think it through and as Dolls #3 came out two months after Watchdog-kun. (Also if your thinking "Well, then why did he make ~After Story~?", just find the raws and you'll know why. You don't need to know Japanese to understand.)
[Edit from the future] After some more thought on this, I'm good with the story here. Why she didn't tell her husband is simple: She realizes she enjoys cheating with the subordinate. Having the husband's blessing would ruin that for her. I think there's more nuance but that's the answer in a nutshell.
What annoys me about this isn't that she likes getting fucked by other men but that her husband also likes her having sex with other men yet she took that away from him. What a selfish bitch.
I don't know where my previous comment I made months ago went off to but I'll rewrite it...The way I took this story is it's about a dude that got his kicks by being a cuckold and whoring his wife out to one of his subordinates. Now, she's hook on her husband's employee's dick (probably there's an emotional bond as well bc he wants her as a lover, whereas her husband just wants her as a plaything), so it seems the whole arrangement backfired on the husband (or maybe he wanted this to happen along?). I also took it was inferred that they did talk about the arrangement bc it isn't logical even by H standards that she would sleep with some strange guy in front of the camera with the husband operating it and not discuss it beforehand. Therefore, judging by how apprehensive she was portrayed in Dolls 1, it seems she was forced into the "infidelity" so I don’t think I needed to see a display of protest from her as the only proof of her disapproval.
I write all that to say that of all the cheaters in cheating/NTR stories, I just don’t get the negative vibe Ayana’s character is getting. You want a real noncommunicating bitch of a cheater, read Syuuen’s Secret Wife.
Absolutely on point. I reread this a bunch of times after it's release so that the eroticism could fade and I could look at the story critically and I came to a similar conclusion: All of her angst in the beginning could have been avoidable if she just talked to her husband because he probably would have been down for it. I could see an argument that she did it so that she could free herself from being her husband's plaything in a metaphorical sense (the series is called "DOLLS" for a reason) but her not talking to her husband is so glaring that she does come off as a selfish bitch as you noted (and oh boy you are gonna get pissed at the epilogue coming on FAKKU in a few months). I came away being irritated at the story of this part but acknowledging that this was the hottest of the three parts.
Hmm, chapter 3? I thought 2 ended rather nicely, so I wasn't exactly expecting this, but hey, why not.
So much for "There won't be a next time", huh. But I suppose after what happened, it's probably harder to just stop and pretend nothing happened.
I totally agree with you that 2 ended nicely. The ambiguity in her line "There won't be a next time" made me love part 2. So you can imagine my dismay when Esuke left the decision for a sequel to the fans. However, I give Esuke a ton of props for actually listening to fans and in terms of the amount of eroticism in each part, Dolls #3 has waaaaaaayyyy more than Dolls #2.
