As someone who speaks German, I'm not gonna lie, I found it a bit cringeworthy. That said, it rather obviously does not dampen the blessing that is a new Hinasaki work.

Sometimes, the Japanese like to sprinkle foreign words
in their narratives, just to be cool. However, in this case,
the effect feels clumsy and gratuitous (as you suggest).

"Dragon forest" should be Drachenwald.
"Dragon friend" should be Drachenfreund.
"Dragon scale" should be Drachenschuppen.

Brennen and Frieren mean "burn" and "freeze."
They're verbs being used as adjectives, which
feels particularly clumsy. It would be better to
say:

Flammendrache ("flame dragon") or Feuerdrache ("fire dragon")
Frostdrache ("frost dragon") or Eisdrache ("ice dragon")

Foreign word usage usually leads to a lot of discussion, and since this is most likely the start of a series, I'll clarify this right from the get-go: all the terms used here are written in Japanese (e.g., é¾ã®æ£® > Dragon Forest) with a German reading written in Japanese (ãƒ‰ãƒ©ãƒƒãƒ˜ãƒ»ãƒ´ã‚¡ãƒ«ãƒˆ > Dorahhe Varuto > Drache Wald). In other words, these are JP > EN and JP-DE > DE translations, so the DE > EN won't necessarily be 1-to-1, and we might also take some liberties if something sounds too awkward when 100% literal. Add to this that these are fantasy characters using made-up isekai terms, and not a German exchange student as you might see in another chapter. In short: set expectations accordingly and enjoy the cool dragons.

The flow of the translation is a mess, just keep it to 1 language and be done with it, otherwise this seems very amateurish with all those translation notes. Keeping the original word doesn't make it better, just weird.
