Sorry for randomly putting my comment here but for some reason each time I tried to edit my comment it wouldn't be saved. I'm assuming it's because I wrote to much. Here you go
 Harem anime ruined it for me. Most harem main characters don't deserve a harem. "To Love Ru" and "Nisekoi" are perfect examples of that. They are just dudes who act normal and somehow have girls just fall all over them. Most harem anime use the male side characters for puns or deaths to move the story. It's even worse when a minor male character's love interest is put into the main characters harem after his death. Sounds ridiculous but it happens. I like some Vanilla content but for the most part I can't relate to it. I will never get the hot girl and it isn't because of the nice guys finish last idea. It's simply because I'm not genetically desirable or have power or money to make them fell safe/secure. I'm not talking about superficial traits that make a person undesirable. The whole thing about how a person with a good personality can get the girl only works if you're at least average looking. So basically I just look at a dude fucking a girl I will never have. NTR is like a dirty fantasy to me where the main character has his girl stolen.
I don't really believe in the nice guys finish last trophe. The only people who finish last are the people who don't take chances or are not desirable. Let's flip it around and see how you view this scenario, if an undesirable woman was nice to you and wanted to get with you and you said "no" does that make you an asshole? Of course not, you simply weren't attracted to her. That's life. Another way to look at it is that if an artist created a hentai where two ugly ass people were banging then it probably wouldn't sell well.

Kaitenfude’s stories have never been all that straightforward which has only really made them much more interesting... I’d be lying if I said I would’ve preferred the two quit business together but that would be ignoring the harsh realities of work and I imagine these two don’t have much else going for them. Would be intriguing to see how this problem is approached in a sequel. (I don’t get turned on by cuckholdery so hopefully not the NTR angle, at the same time the depravity would be fun to see lol)

but it's also kind of a backwards NTR story. Instead of beginning with
an established couple and watching them sink into NTR depravity, we
see a couple who are actually brought together because they share
the NTR kink.

they may as well reunite and make the best of things.
