The MC was completely at fault here. She was in no way obligated to wait for his ass to confess especially for that long. Yes, they are childhood friends that have feelings for each other, hell they had already kissed before and basically already knew about how they felt. However in the other chapters you can see how the idiot MC himself told her that he would someday confess to her, and made her wait for his confession which she did. Even their schoolmates kept saying that they should just date already. I mean, what more do you want dude. All that unnecessary waiting did was cause her to suffer because she started to feel like the relationship was never going get past the friendship status. Idiot made her wait so long when she was already ready for more. I can only blame the girl a bit because she could’ve also just said screw that idiots pride and just told him how she felt too, however she chose to respect his wishes of him wanting to be one to confess. The so called NTR dude did nothing wrong here, all he did was take his shot at the girl and it worked. Yes, the girl still had feelings for her childhood friend, but after 2 years of making her wait the MC has no one to blame but himself. The new guy was just man enough to say everything that she always wanted to hear, so she gave him a chance and there's nothing wrong with that. It only looks really bad because this is a hentai, meaning that they are gonna smash as soon as the become a couple. Also it's not like the new guy blackmailed, mind controlled or assaulted her. All he did was confess and he was rewarded for it. The new guy even said so himself on the other chapter that he doesn’t want to separate her from her friendships, because he knows its important to her and wants to show her how much he loves her, even though his jealousy did make him out to be a bit of a jackass sometimes.
These types of outcomes happen a lot in the real world. Girls are absolutely not obligated to wait for you just because you are trying to make a big deal out of something that should be so simple, especially when you love her.
This is NTR if you're a dramatic 16yr old who's never been in a relationship. You want a girl? You like a girl? Fucking tell her, worst case she rejects you and embarrassed you, but that's why you get to know them first so if they reject you, at least you can say you tried and either stay friends or drift apart because you both know one side will likely always want more so it won't work.
NTR is someone being taken away, corrupted. I hate NTR but loved this, it's a bit cringe because the girl wouldn't make up her mind but I think it's fair for her to worry about those feelings, but the dude had years to ask and didn't, the guy who got to know her went for it and it worked. The only reason to me this seems NTR is because the artist forced the slutty parts of the girl, it feels weird for the guy to monologue about being a genuinely nice, caring and patient boyfriend at first but to then have him get jealous and do all that shit. But hey, a girl who was a virgin is suddenly able to fuck all the time? Let her go wild.
If you feel sorry for the guy then you really can only be someone who's either never had a relationship or is just immature, the alpha vs beta shit is whatever but in reality, the guy never had the balls to ask so he got left behind, in what fucking world is that NTR? Being a childhood friend that loves her is NOTHING like being in a dedicated relationship. He doesn't own her and it's fucking toxic to expect that she'll just be around forever, waiting for him to FINALLY make a move. Dude got what he had coming, if she really cared she would have just said something but clearly she was tired of waiting for him to show he actually wanted her and she moved on, just like how it works in the real world kids.
Yeah, what you wrote was pretty much my take too. I mean, I kept going back on myself whether Akina deserves empathy or blame for not being forthright to Kouta about her being in the relationship with Tatsuya. Now I tend to stay on the empathy side because if she had the feeling he’d be disappointed that she was seeing someone, it is rational to expect her to stall telling him until a “need to know” moment came up. Anyways, to parrot what you wrote, it does come down to him being upfront with telling his feelings to her in a timely manner – he did not so he missed his chance.
And yeah, for this to be a NTR as I’ve seen others in the past, Akina would have had to be forced by Tatsuya into an encounter and then be mind-bended (or corrupted) into establishing a relationship, while already being in a relationship with Kouta. None of that was the case. She wasn’t dating anyone, Tatsuya stepped up to the plate in forceless fashion as seen in Autumn Turning Point, and she said yes.
But I must say that there is a big popular sentiment that the male childhood friend should always end up dating his female friend, even in other stories to the extent where he is justified to do something to make it happen where it would be considered tasteless in other situations. I don’t feel that way but others do. [Addition: It’s hypocritical regardless.]
The artist clearly did something right, as there is quite an active discussion around the work. So at the end of the day if you love or hate the contents it still spurned a thought. Well done.
I think more than anything, it highlighted the fact most people interpret NTR in different ways. Some see a childhood friend who is scooped up by another man as NTR, whilst others don't. I mean technical it could be classed as NTR, but I've always thought that the friend zone steal falls short - its not like anyone did anything wrong.
It's called BSS and is a subgenre of NTR. However, imo the NTR in this work is questionable as MC is not really gunning for FMC. The antagonist is a trainwreck waiting to happen, though and MC only wants what's best for FMC. It can be argued that MC sees her behaviour as problematic and worries about FMC as a friend. In that regard, since the antagonist has managed to skew her perspective, it's NTR. Antag wants to steal FMC from MC and end their friendship.
The perfect way for this to end to please both kind of readers would be:
The FMC fucking the MC, just so she can say it’s tiny to finally please the insecure bull and then she gets passed around in a gangbang to please the people who enjoy that kind of moral degradation, then she comes to regret her decision and goes to her room to see MC just to catch him fucking the black haired girl as she starts apologising and saying I love you and shit, just to please the people who want to see a vannilla-ish ending for MC
God, all these comments are so spicy; I love the anti-NTR hivemind.
Spoilers: regardless of what you may think, this isn't NTR, that's why it's not tagged as such. If you think it is, you may want to go recheck what the definition of netorare actually is. Sure, it may have a similar vibe of being depressing for one of the characters in the story, but ultimately it's still not netorare.
And before anyone says "well go check the artist's pixiv; they called it NTR," that really doesn't matter; it just means the artist themselves doesn't understand the genre. Akina and Kouta weren't in a relationship, and so she was never his to begin with; she wasn't "stolen" from him.
Anyways, "they hated him because he told the truth," so I'm ready for the downvotes.
You are right. It’s more accurately a †˜BSS’ (bokuga saishoni sukidatta = I liked her first) story - it even says so in the subtitle †˜first come first served’. So while there is some overlap in theme with NTR, it’s ostensibly its own thing.
Personally, I don’t mind it being classified as NTR though, as most people don’t know the BSS tag well enough to know what it means, so NTR represents the closest tag that warns you of the story’s theme, even if it is a misnomer.
No, it is NTR. It's advertised as much as an NTR series in Japan, what you think is NTR is your own opinion, but it is NTR in the opinion of the Author and the publishing company.
I don't care about the dictionary definition when it comes to tags. As a fan of NTR, this is a storyline that grabs me. Similarly, people who DON'T like NTR will be turned off by this.
Tags exist to serve their audience, not to conform to strict definitions. This deserves an NTR tag. I would have hated to miss this.
@Biolitt - Dictionaries(and by extention dictionary definitions) are categorisations of common definitions of words as they are used. They aren't an authority on how a word is used, or the meaning behind it. They definitly do not exist to create "order and control", they exist to help people catch up on what words ("currently") mean incase they don't know.
What is\was considered NTR 10 years ago, is not necessarily what's considered NTR today. Dictionaries might be stuck with the 10 year old definition, that doesn't mean the dictionary definition is right, it just means dictionaries are slow as fuck to update(which they are).
This right here is why things are going the way they are. Sad people that are not able to conform to the world but are trying to make the world conform to them. Dictionary definitions are there so that we have order and control but then we have ideals such as yours that create constant confusion. Stop making shit up
>Tags exist to serve their audience, not to conform to strict definitions.
You realize what you just said makes no sense, right? If you don't follow the definition of a tag, then what's even the point of them in the first place?
Yup, I agree. The artist intention for this story was to be NTR and he gave it the typical "NTR feel", so by all means, this Story is NTR. Also if I am not mistaken the twitter account of the company, who publishes Kairakuten, referred to this as NTR as well. To write sentences like "the artist doesn't understand NTR" comes across really arrogant and disrespectful to the artist.
Like most NTR the story of this one is just meh. The author is really dragging it out though. There are 3 parts of this stories already published where one or two parts should have been enough.
So point of the story doesn't make sense. She loves her childhood friend. So random guy remodel her bathroom. So she says fuck it let's start hooking up with each other.
Okay yeah, this should have been labeled NTR. Still I don't feel that bad for the MC, and at least the NTR'ing dude isn't just the usual asshole, just a bit of a jackass.
Looks like Kouta had lots of chances to make a move and wussed out. I'm not an NTR guy but even I would barely consider this one, Kouta is just a cuck who let Akina get taken because he thought she'd just always wait around for him. He deserved it
