This story is very well written and drawn! Great characters, the first six panels tell a whole lot through the expressions without any words. And a very bold choice to have a panel of a random household object (the water pitcher on page 10) in the middle of a sex scene, but it actually really gives a sense of the comfort and familiarity the two feel for each other (in that their sex is as normal and commonplace as the household objects).
I heard your voice through a photograph.
I thought it up and brought up the past.
Once you know you can never go back,
I gotta take it on the Other Side.
I don’t know what it was about the backstory that I found so touching, but it’s nice to see how simply characters can fall in love even without noticing.

Kanata shows a sign of good upbringing by respectfully saying hello to Kotaro's little friend (page 6). And part of me suspects that BOTH mothers planned a joint trip to ensure that something would happen in their absence, or they knew that something did happen years ago. Either way, Mothers engaged Wing-Mom strategy ... it's Super-Effective!
