I had to do some back-checking on some character designs and do some side-by-side comparisons before I made this statement, but...
This is a prequel to Key's "LOVERS" series. The entire storyline fits right in with what Itaru was talking about at the end of "Turn" and it's too much of a coincidence to not be him. Likewise, Sana at the end of this story matches almost identically to Sana from "LOVERS." Lastly, Sana's house was the final point, though one can say the house might be a tract house.
All that said, I'm confident this is a prequel story.
I looked through the "LOVERS" series and I agree with you. Also, if you look on Key's website you'll see Key's depiction of this story's protagonists and the male looks exactly like Itaru from "LOVERS". So you are absolutely correct. Great catch.Â
I now have mixed feelings about Higenamuchi doing the artwork this story though. On one hand, it shows how much Key respects Higenamuchi since Key allowed Higenamuchi to work on a story that belongs to a series that Key made. On the other hand, if Key wanted to make a prequel to the "LOVERS" series, Key could have done the work by themselves instead of making Higenamuchi do half the work.
This is an amazing story arc! Was checking the collection tab and wondered what was the connection to the LOVERS series. Given what he did in LOVERS I wondered whether his wound never recovered.
This story is a part of a collaboration event by Wani featuring Ishikawa Shisuke, Key, and Higenamuchi where one the aforementioned artists makes the storyboard while another does the art. Here, Higenamuchi did the art while Key made the storyboard.
Hmm, this was an interesting one.
The start kind of implies he sleeps around a bit, but he has apparently never stopped loving his Sensei who got married, and this time she came to him because her husband was cheating on her...But rather than hope/expect anything more, he just says she's welcome to come over anytime. So...Yeah, I'd say he never really stopped loving her, because rather than pressure her by asking for more, he's content just being able to be with her like this.
Really, I'd just suggest she dump that cheating husband of hers and be with him instead, but I guess things can never be so simple.
That ending certainly intrigues me though...Possible sequel?
There was a sequel(s)...And it turns out he's 10X worse than the husband. She'd actually be better off without him and her hubby....Hahaha. Downvote with no rebuttal. Gotta love that. I guess somebody thinks he's quality partner material - not if you go off of the sequels. He's actually condom jizz.
It's rare to read a Higenamuchi where the guy actually seems to have real feelings for a woman, instead of wanting to assert his superiority over her while lecturing her about how women's true nature is to be a slut with no loyalty except to the biggest dick that gets waved in front of her.
...I mean I really like that, but, y'know, it's neat to see something like this too.
