I think she graduated from Jr. high. Hear me out. She was clearly shorter at the beginning of the story and high schoolers are past the growing phase. For reference the top of her head is a few inches under his ears on page 3, but is level with them on page 16. Also middle school is the end of mandatory education in Japan.

At the end, he probably thought, "Yeah, hon...If I run into anybody like you, I'm doing an 180."

Judging from the last page, "Sensei" managed to get a teaching job again, and he and Minami got married (naturally, to each other).
