If you notice something off about the art in this release, according to Key's website, Key was feeling unwell while preparing this. Furthermore, Key was not happy about certain aspects of the art and considers this work "unfinished" artistically. According to the website, Key is apparently sad/depressed about how this work came out.
While I love the high standards and expectations Key puts on his/herself when it comes to his/her work, I think I can say as a fan that no one is disappointed in this release. This just proves that even on an off day Key's artwork and storytelling are better than 95% of other artists in the industry. Keep your head up Key! This release was still great!
I thought the "unfinished" appearance of this chapter was deliberate, because it makes the art look breezy and effortless, which only the best artists can pull off. I think the artwork is superb, and I hope Fakku passes on all the positive feedback, in order to assure Key that his American fans are solidly behind him.
This was certainly...A bit of a depressing release.
The girl clearly likes him but wanted him to be happy, so she was encouraging him to confess to the other girl, but it turns out she was already in a relationship with his friend.
Which made him depressed, and the girl decided to comfort him in his time of weakness and he's taking advantage of it. I believe that he realises he's taking advantage of her, but she likes him so she puts up with him, and he needs something to get his mind off the other girl...It's a little sad, really. He probably just can't help himself, and everytime his jealousy flares up he just takes her somewhere for sex.
She puts up with it because she loves him, but he doesn't quite reciprocate and only uses her. I assume he understands he's hurting her and that doing this solves nothing, but he just can't help himself.
Maybe I'm reading too deep into this release, but it certainly felt deep.
Oh he can help himself, this isn't beyond his control he has just taken advantage of a needy and insecure girl to expiate his frustrations and demons. She isn't forced to comply, but clearly he doesn't actually care what this does to or for her. Narcissism 101: it's all about YOU. Her being his foil makes the overall mood depressing, not hot, because you empathize with the "silent suffering" of this girl who we assume wants/ deserves better than she's getting...
This is considered unfinished artistically? I’d only recommend some more backgrounds, but key makes solid plot and drawings that always hit. The art feels dreamlike and fluttery, which I think is absolutely on-point thematically given that this is the tale of two people who are using each other for comfort sex and not a deeper relationship. This was a really sad heart-nut, Key keeps on winning.
This actually made me wince in pain a bit bc I'm literally going thru the same situation as the side girl, wth. First one I clicked on to, that's unbelievable.
To sum up, Iori is eating his heart out for Hachinaka, so he's venting his jealousy and sexual frustration on poor Riko by using her as a cum bucket---and he hates himself for it. What makes the situation even sadder is that Riko (who loves Iori) understands all too well what's going on. Edgy stuff. Bring on the sequel.
The early bird gets the worm! Ah man the feels! That girl is too good for the MC hopefully he realizes what he has now instead of allowing those feelings of regret from clouding his mind.
Seems like the other girl had no preference towards the guy to begin with since she accepted the other dude very easily. MC never really had a chance and seems filled with an almost fake regret about not confessing in time as if that would really change anything. Meanwhile the girl that consoles him clearly cares about him even before the sex as shown when she persisted on not leaving him alone. MC now is taking those fake feelings of regeret (really jealousy) out on the girl who actually cares for him. I cannot see that friendship lasting much longer bewteen MC and the couple that got together, though if we got a sequel what we might see is him embrace the other girl and recognize her for the gem that she is.
