What an asshole douchebag. He essentially blackmailed her by putting her daughter's marriage at risk...And of course, being the caring mother who worked at a soapland just to raise her own daughter and obviously cares very much for her, she pretty much had no choice.
And by the end...Well, mindbroken, in a sense. She's pretty much completely accepted the current situation to the point that she apologised to her daughter.

Mom really should've just fessed up to Mai about being a soapland girl just to take away any sort of blackmail material Mai's shitbag husband would've had on her.
