This is a really special work. I struggle to think of another story on this site that does as good job as this one in depicting such a realistic and believable character. Amano Yuika is extremely insecure about her femininity and isolates herself because of it. She escapes into video games and looks down on the other girls who embrace their feminine side. Her main problem is that she actually wants what she has defined herself by despising. That's a serious internal dissonance she's dealing with and she's only taken the first step in addressing it. Her character has so much more she needs for an actual resolution that this story is screaming for sequel. I actually thought this chapter was it until I realized it was just a different point of view of the first story.
I always consider Dojirou to be a really good author because they have made really good stories, but this shows degree of writing chops few others have.
It's fantastic and you love to see real character development in a story. It's even more impressive when it happens in the short story format of an erotic vignette!
Ayoooo not a SEQUEL but "Another side another story"???? It's just chapter 1 but from her perspective??? PEAK FUCKING FICTION!!!
Seeing her fret and get ready, worry about makeup and ultimately getting to hear her thoughts throughout this excellent scenario is an incredible treat! Now I hope we get two more chapters with the same gimmick. I think it's a winning formula, personally...
So everyone is clear, this isn't a sequel. It's the same story but from her perspective. Still nice and cute, but it's not a new continuation or anything.
I think the fact that the change in perspective offers new details on the story does make it a sequel in a way. The first chapter focuses more on the scene and how their relationship built up to that point. The second is focused on the girl and her behavior while using the scene (where they're having sex) from the first chapter. You could start with this chapter if you want, but because some things would lose context I think calling it a sequel is actually correct.
In fact, I believe that by the very nature of following after the first story, this 'perspective shift' of the same general plot is by definition a sequel, unless there is some technical definition for the word sequel that I'm missing.
Dojirou went and made a perfect followup to Sex Between Gloomy Types is the Hottest, Ain't It?.
Page 8 = perfection.
