Pyon-Kti!!!! Been a while <3 and as amazing as always. The combination of being sexy af and it also being a fun (albeit short :[) to read cures my anxiety.
I didn't go completely dry with Pyon-Kti goodness as a game I play actively (Azur lane) has a character designed by her ^^.
Maybe it's a hot take but the "drunk dialogue" in some of these manga is too much. Makes reading it an atrocious experience and serves no real purpose.
Now imagine reading it in Japanese—a language full of homophone that largely relies on kanji to convey the proper meaning—but everything is written as syllables and the dialog is slurred. Often you have to work out the word based on context and make an educated guess. I see your point, but it's our policy to not alter the original text, so if the Japanese is barely legible, that goes for the English text too.
I find this peek into the localization and translation process fascinating. I am also slowly making my way to gain fluency, then literacy with Japanese. Would I be able to pick the brains of the FAKKU translators via Twitter and what not for recommended resources and methods for gaining skill with the language?
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad the dialogue is being accurately translated. For better or worse I think it's best (and most fair) that the artist's intentions and personality make it to English.
Fakku translations do that a lot don't they, often when the character isn't even drunk like this one. I realize what they're trying to convey with the technique, but it's a little hit or miss with me as to when it's effective.
