upon modern interpretations of the fable, so it's clear that
Tansuiken studied the Wiki article very carefully.
In 19th Century paintings, the Grasshopper was often
depicted as a cold, hungry girl with a mandolin (which
is the inspiration for our guitar-playing FMC).
Tansuiken gives the fable a cynically humorous twist
by pointing out that, during hard times, an improvident
woman can always survive by renting out her ass.
