Ferro, a digital handywoman, is in need of money when she receives a dubious request to "find the 'core data' by playing through an unfinished game." While she's both curious and apprehensive about playing a full-dive game (still not a common practice), she accepts the request out of a sense of obligation. At first, Ferro is put off by the realistic experience in the cyberworld, but thanks to the cheat that Rove installed just in case, she gradually adapts to the game.
