Wait... is the title referring to the story about two lovers who had no money but in order to give each other a present they had to sell precious things to them (they guy sold his watch and the girl her hair) and bought gifts which were useless (hair clip and watch chain) now that the precious thing they were for was sold only to realize they only needed themselves?

I read Gift of the Magi back in school. I remember it a bit differently and a lot less sexy.

I especially liked that bit at the end.
