Buy her time to escape, perhaps. Show her you really care and hey, maybe then, your words will finally reach her. But nope, he turned tail and ran. I mean, if he ran to get like, a weapon or some help and then come back, maybe he'd still have my respect for trying to save her, but unfortunately not. A shame, really. That look on her face when she was abandoned though...That hit deep. She may say she doesn't care or is numb to all of it, but I think deep down she was hoping to be saved.
And finally, the face she has at the end...Just says it all, doesn't it. She appeared in front of him one more time and, as if mocking him, asked him what he means by 'normal'. It may not have been your fault she started down this path, but you've certainly contributed to what she has become.
