This chapter is deceptively devoid of lewd acts between the main couple. I mean, there is sex between two couples, but I was super keen on seeing the primary couple doing much lewder things in the agony of ecstacy. I am left with a hollow sense of fulfillment, like we were promised something great, but given something different. Nice chapter, but it just lacks that intense impact that Utu's works usually have. Constructive criticism aside, the narrative and development of the characters is marvelous. I would love to see as sequel where to get into the same college and become a couple.
The story actually reminded me of that one book of the Monogatari series in which the monster girl of the week is a girl who broke her leg and thus ended her sports career and she collects unhappy stories, because she gets better by realizing how others have it worse… it was a good novel with a nice twist.
Some lovely translation work in this chapter. "Life comes at you fast" is a delightfully contemporary and idiomatic rendering of the JP there, and the translation of Hayama's line "You're a bit of an odd duck" introduces a sneaky pun, since the word for duck is "鴨/kamo", which appears in Kamogawa's name: 鴨川.
Because of the pacing, to me it actually seemed longer than it was. I was pleasantly surprised by all the wholesome vanilla-osity; no dark themes or exploited characters just circumstances aligning happily. Good job, Utu!
I love Utu’s art!
