Yeaaahhh that’s one major issue a lot of these stories have: This (hopefully unintentional) habit of trying to make the MC’s ignoring the total absence of consent into something that’s somehow supposed to be sexy—as if these portrayals don’t have real world consequences for women—makes it seem like women can’t possibly want or enjoy sex unless it’s forced on them (which is prevalent in the tsundere tag specifically).

Enthusiastic consent is sexy, folks. It would be awesome to see more of that than this.

In a male dominated society female consent is often an afterthought. Years ago I was watching a Kurosawa film, I think it was Seven Samurai, and a young woman wanted to have sex with one of the heros. So she kissed him and lay back waiting for him to "take her" and when he didn't force himself on her she treated him like scum. The message I got from this 1950s classic was "If you don't love her enough to rape her, you must not love her" Make no mistake, her body language was very much "I don't want this, but it is the way it's done".

My point is the lack of consent runs deep in Japan, and everywhere.
