Kotoura san, with your ESP ability, you should be able to read my mind: Where are my beloved ecchi fanservice anime titles this season!?
Fuwaruu mentioned that the titles of anime may be getting longer; "Kotoura san" should be a sufficiently short name. :p
I digress. Based on its yonkoma manga counterpart, the female protagonist of "Kotoura-san" is Kotoura herself. With her ESP ability to read minds discovered, Kotoura joins the school's ESP club. What adventures will Kotoura and her schoolmates encounter? (If I am not wrong, the ability to read other people's erotic thoughts can be quite a liability too.)
Currently, there are only 3 volumes of the yonkoma published. Hopefully, the comedic genre of the anime will bring a smile to everyone's faces.

After reading that, it made me think of how Men are supposed to think about sex every 7 seconds or so.
I believe Kotoura has it worse than we do. After all, 2 of her club members are males and one of them seem to be having erotic thoughts most of the time. :D
I was on the verge of crying throughout the first half of the episode. This is going to feel a lot like kokoro connect with all the feels and comedy mixed into one

Oh lawdy. That was sad. I wanted to reach through my screen and gently hug little Kotoura and then stroke her head, and tell her everything was going to be alright. The emotion packed into that first half of the episode was enough to kill a moose. So many feels. Also, I wanted her to punch all those little fuckers in her class in the throat. The second half was much lighter though, and I'm really liking the male protagonist. Definitely following this.
Holy shit, that has got to be one of the saddest and most gripping intros I have ever seen. I love anime that are able to switch between comedy and tragedy, this is going to be a great series and probably one of my favourites this season.
You know, despite a pretty good and dramatic first half, I get the feeling that the rest of the series may well completely forget about all this psychological trauma and be nearly pure comedy here on out. It would be nice if it didn't turn out that way.
Well fuck that was dark. Too be honest, I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch this series but, that opening, I can't ignore this, I want to see her happy. Also art was better than I expected.
All these feels and I have no idea what to do with them. That was really good. I don't know how anybody could ever be mean to a face like this. I mean seriously, she's fucking adorable.
Holy shit the first part was horrible for Kotoura. I didn't expect it to be that dark in the beginning and what got me even more was when Manabe was introduced they just took a hard left into the light. For real if Kotoura's parents were willing enough to cheat on each other it would have happened eventually even without her reading their minds. Definitely watching, looks so good.
I laughed most of the time until the OP. I found it amusing watching her going deeper and deeper down the pit. And the melancholy in it was also the entire episodes strong suit. I felt like the episode got worse when she met the perverted dumb guy. I might watch another episode just to see where they are going with this plot. Gut feeling says that this is heading towards an comedic approach.
They should do an OVA for the first part.
Edit
Spoiler:
[4:17:03 PM] Ryssen: I did laugh at it. I compared the anime to old comedies. Where the protagonist does nothing but wrong and gets into trouble by pissing of someone.
[4:18:00 PM] Ryssen: But it ends well with the protagonist doing something good for someone or he's just lucky and get all the money.
[4:18:50 PM] Ryssen: Same with the anime. In the beginning she goes deeper and deeper down the pit. But as we come closer to the end the glimpse of light grows bigger and bigger.
[4:19:02 PM] Ivan the Terrible: [4:17 PM] Ryssen:
<<< I did laugh at it. I compared the anime to old comedies. Where the protagonist does nothing but wrong and gets into trouble by pissing of someone.now that you mentioned it...oh god, i chuckled a bit remembering the sad moments
[4:19:34 PM] Ryssen: Right. See, it was funny.
[4:20:20 PM] Ivan the Terrible: if you had mentioned that in your review, i wonder if anyone would understand what you meant
[4:20:32 PM] Ryssen: It gets depressing to the point of it being too unrealistic and thus turning funny.

Thankfully, we're all adults here, so you won't be getting any crap for that.

R-right?
On the episode itself:
Spoiler:
That was a fantastic episode. I only really watched this because I heard Kotoura was voiced by Hisako; I still really like Hisako. Notwithstanding that incident she was involved in.
Okay, really on the episode now: I thought the drama was well done. While I didn't start tearing up, I really felt for her.
Got to be honest, the 10 minutes of despair and melancholy we saw also felt a little like a build up to the daydream joke when it transitioned into comedy.
