Anime with hot fan service and your thoughts on FS itself

A lot of people think that fanservice is unnecessary and outright annoying if there is an abundance. Though I fall into the former (that and a bad story) if the story is decent and the fan service is hot it's a plus for the anime. What do you think?

Kiss x Sis (especially the OVAs)- Man the 3rd one is naughty, not only that but on one of them it shows an accidental fingering, even some pussy juice.

Ladies vs Butlers- The art is cool, there is a face sitting in the first ep (I am not into it but it was pretty hot), near full nudity of course no genitals but..., and again there was OVAs that were dedicated to the females of the show in sexy poses.

Queen's Blade- Though I had to drop this anime because I couldn't take it seriously it did have it's hot fan service moments.

My Balls- This was a manga that would probably be dumbed down if turned into an anime. It had cute demon girls, funny, and it had softcore sex.

Fanservice can be a bother if it's done too much or is overdone, but I usually don't care. Naughty sexy moments can be pretty funny such as that one sebastian-nun sex scene in black butler (which came out of nowhere, I swear).

As far as fanservice goes, there's definitely a right way and a wrong way to go about it.

Ladies vs. Butlers got it right in that its entire story and setting is a set-up for fanservice, and the art style lends itself well to that kind of abundant nudity.

Strike Witches also got it right, but for a different reason. They manage to normalize it. The viewer observes the fanservice as an element of the Strike Witches world. It's simply normal for girls not to wear pants in the Strike Witches world.

Divergence Eve, on the other hand, got it very wrong. It tried to have a serious story and abundant huge, bouncing tits, and both ended up very half-assed.

I feel fanservice works its best when coupled with comedy or moe elements, and a lot of the complaints people have about fanservice stem from when fanservice is coupled with what's supposed to be a serious story.

Romance anime -> fanservice = gray line -> depends on how they do the fanservice
they always end up "sex implied" usually. Not yosuga no sora though

It all depends on the context of the show itself.

Kuroshitsuji is...er...shota-con and formalwear-con fanservice at its absolute best.

I think fanservice is not bad if you don't abuse of it, for example the perfect amount of fanservice for me it's something like Air Gear manga, they show a lot of fanservice but just in middle of the fights or the cliche scenarios like the main character taking a bath, then the hot girl enters the bath, that kind of fanservice is just okay, but i can't stand the ikki tousen fanservice, i mean there's like no pages without panty shots or tits... and that amount of massive fanservice just takes off the magic of fanservice i mean, air gear is nice because i can see Simca panties/tits every 10 ~ 40 chapters... but Ikki tousen is boring because i take a look at Hakufu tits every 2 pages...

I don't mind fanservice much but don't overdo it or put it to the extreem that it becomes plain silly.

Najica is one of those that are overdoing it. the only thing I remember from the entire series are panties, panties, panties and a shitload more panties... and guns

High School of the Dead was ok but that one scene with the bullets went over the top it became silly.

I dig fanservice, but only in moderation, unless I'm going into the series knowing that it's mostly going to be fanservice over substance anyways, (which I'm perfectly alright with sometimes).

Most of it can be pretty good, revealing a side of the character you always wanted to see, although sometimes it can really kill the innocence of something, like that disney porn you see on sites... Child hood ruined forever.

I don't hate fanservice as long as the story is good enugh but if not, it's f*ckin' annoying. I mean it seems to me that a lot of anime "makers" just want to make profit, the new "ecchi-fanservice" animes are just shadows of the older ones, they're lacking spirit. Plus when the anime is not an original (there is a lightnovel or a manga or both before the anime) they just make up some random story line with remains of the original story, altering characters to be more fitting to the new shitty story and BAM, There you go, you have a fanservice anime. The perverted little kids will buy this like candy. Damn them.

Ofcourse there are good new fanservice animes too, but they are way to rare and it seems that they want to screw up the sotries I like in manga form.

Light fan service is good and sometimes is more enticing than blatant fan service.

IE:

Watching Clannad. It's in no way a fan service show but Holy Jebus, Ep 17 was very delicious. Kyou was in her gym clothes with thigh-highs, which is relatively normal. Now she is locked in storage with Tomoya, and some nice animation combined with angles proved to be very tasty. You just end up savoring every moment of that scene and it makes the show a little more memorable.

TL;DR

Kyou is beautiful and the less fan service there is, the more you can appreciate it when it does come up.

The scene fuckin came out of nowhere. And I watched that scene while my family was having dinner. Did I mention the volume was almost up to MAX? Super Awkward..

Anyway. Fanservice has suddenly been the center focus these days. Back in the old days, the only fanservice you needed was when the characters have an event like going to the beach or a festival, while they really focused more on the story than FS itself.

And I may be wrong, but the one who started these too-much-fanservice was probably Love Hina. Don't get me wrong, but Love Hina was awesome. It's just that when others tried to copy the mangaka's success through ecchi FS, they really overdid it, with panty shots with almost each page *coughtoloverucough*


Long Story Short:

It really depends on how you play about the fanservice. Too much could turn off some readers, but balancing it with the story like how "Mahou Sensei Negima" did it (same author of Love Hina), it could turn into a Big Success

This actually is a big problem of mine. I have a just turned 13 year old sister. Its hard to tell her about an anime she should watch because I don't want her to see something she shouldn't or doesn't want to see, especially if my mom found out (Thank God for Ika Musume this season).

You think it would be easy to find something for her, but even an anime like School Rumble is spoiled by scenes such as Sawachika and Harima getting in a bath together. Eri is completely naked and only barely hides her lady bits. Entire series put on hold for a few years because of a few scenes.

Besides that I don't like blantant FS or when entire episodes are devoted to them. I find them slightly sad. However, if it's FS from the get go, I can handle it. HSoTD turned me of with its FS but after I thought it was cool after I realized it was just part of the show's style: sex, zombies, and violence.

Side note: Chu Bra was a show about a couple of middle school girls talking about and running around in lingerie. However, I didn't even notice that the entire series was one giant FS because the show was so cute and innocent.

Guess it depends from the anime...i mean the story of anime, although not always, in fact for FS story of type of manga doesnt matters...

But i guess FS in some animes its good, and even in anime without a lot of FS sometimes a little FS scene looks good.

IMO, FS its good...also helps to people makes anime to sell more merchandise of the anime.
So could be good for selling purposes.

Fanservice shows up in four cases:

-The overall show has a light-hearted feel and mood.
-The show is meant to make you horny, baby. It turns you on. entice the viewer.
-The show is mindless entertainment and acknowledges the fact that it shouldn't be taken seriously.
-Provides some light relief in darker tiemz. (Serves same purpose as comic relief).

Now, what determines whether it works or not is strictly dosage, and- more often than not- they tend to lay it on pretty thick. So it's really up to you, how much of it you can take in stride.

If you don't already know, Gambler is a sucker for fanservice titles.

It doesn't matter if everyone else criticizes a title for its storyline (or lack thereof), but as long as there is fanservice (and perhaps some comedy), I will be willing to lick it up. All of us are entitled to enjoy our favourite genre of shows without bothering about the comments of others. That being said, some underrated titles do deserve more support...
