Best Anime Adapation of a VN

Welcome to the NHK or Spice and Wolf (I have a limited knowledge of Japanese novels, but I'm pretty sure these were both originally novels).

Haruhi novels= massive migraine
Spice and Wolf novel= boring economics
Zero no Tsukaima novel= good story but translators havent done anything since august.
Fate/Zero= no anime adaption
Shakugan no Shana= inactive translation
Kaze no Stigma=dead author
Trinity Blood=dead author
Full Metal Panic!=great light novels and anime
1/2 Prince=good novel

Something tells me if they do animate fate/zero, it will be softened...which is not cool. So for now I don't want a fate/zero anime.

Clannad. Second to none.

I really hated the anime. I dropped it fairly early on because I could not stand it. It felt very rushed and they mixed some of the chronology around and really turned me off. But then again I watched it right as I finished the VN so I was probably going to be extra critical of it.

And like everyone else is saying Clannad did a wonderful job of portraying the VN. I have yet to finish the Clannad VN but from what I played it seems to flow very well with the anime adaption.

But am I the only one who hates Higurashi no Naku Koro ni? I have only watched the first season of the anime, and that was only after being lambasted by fanboys for not watching it. It sucked. For anyone who loves real literature this was a horrible piece to watch. It was like the writers ended the series every 5 episodes with the shitty dream solution. I guess it pisses me off more because I really liked where the first arc was going and they just ended it. No real solution, no real explanation, just that's it lets shake the etch-a-sketch and start over killing everyone again. Horrible.

That pretty much sounds like "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" to me.
