Best character (based on personality not ability)

Male: Maes Hughes(Full Metal Alchemist). Easily one of the most likable characters from the series. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to everyone and despite barely knowing the Elrics It was shown that he genuinely cared for them. Even though he comes off has a bit of a joyful idiot, he is an incredibly trust worthy and intelligent man. Even though most of the people around him where annoyed they where all sad when he was murderer. All around great character.

One of the best anime protagonist I've seen. He has the past that could show you how he ended up like that. He has this weapon "quotes" that is best suited in that certain situation that makes him really great. He could also take the straight man role in their comedy lol. He has this charisma that draws everyone around him.
oh yeah, He's a silver haired samurai that could troll!!
Shirahama Kenichi:
From a weakling to someone strong enough that could face his opponents. He's a character of pure evolution in martial arts w/o talent but with pure training. He is a picture of diligence and hardwork.
Kamijou Touma:
Harem Aura Lvl 99? Lol even thought his only power is his right hand and the rest is vunerable, he doesn't think twice on saving the one who is in need thus another kind of charisma that draws the female last boss of the arc grow to like him(well, some were romantically). Then his group was considered a threat because he has allies in the magic side(ex-Roman and Anglican and a saint) and the science side(level 5s and one was awakened) even though it wasn't really officially established

Granted, he is the textbook definition of a damsel in distress. Always being saved by Yuno, Kurusu and Minene, can't do jack shit and always crying that his life and circumstance (the survival game) sucks.
From this point on this is a major spoiler from the manga... The anime hasn't caught up yet.

I chose both rendition of Saber from the animes. Why? Because of her inner turmoil for the kingdom she failed to protect. Her motives for fighting are to save said kingdom. But her desire causes her to sacrifice everything to achieve her goal, even a second chance to life (Gotta love Iskandar's wish ^^). After she failed her on her first attempt on the grail because of the "betrayal" of Emiya Kiritsugu, her second attempt to capture the grail was more deadset.
From the beginning, she resented her new master, son of her former master, Emiya Shirou's ideals and often clashed on what her life means in this battle. But as the war progressed, she discovers a new joy for life and a life that she never got to live. But because Shirou insisted on her to be more human and not a weapon, she freaked out and told him off, only to come to terms of her past and enjoying the present with Shirou. In the end, she accepted her past and embraced a future where she could live freely while saying goodbye to the person she loves with a teary smile.

My choice for him is that when not in Hyper Dying will state he has this level of comedic attribute mixed with courage and strength for his family, which I love about him, even though it has sorta been the main personality for every single shounen character ever created! Tsuna pulls it off best.

The fabulous Erza Scarlet!
Erza is my best female character for her simplicity. Why I say simplicity is that she is the most basic of anime characters you come across yet somehow extreamly lovable and unforgettable, her on-the-side comedy, her willpower for things she greatly wants, the times when she can be broken. All these is what makes Erza a unique character in a way makes her my favourite for best female personality.
