Childhood friend or main character if you are in the anime?

I start watching anime ever seen 2006, it always bug me sometime that the Male main character has to choose between childhood friend or the main female character, if i'm not wrong majority of them choose the main female character.

So what do you think? childhood friend or female lead?

For me it depends on how the relationship of the main character to the main character girl/boy and childhood friend, but most of the time there is plot armor that even if the main character is close to the childhood friend he/she always chooses the main character boy/girl.

For me "personally" I'll go for the more interesting side characters.

Depends who is more likeable. If the childhood friend is a complete bitch but "likes" the male character then she's the one to go for. I like a but of Tsundere.

If you've ever seen Infinite Stratos, the main character has to choose between Childhood friend and 3 other girls, but has the emotional threshold of a sack of potatoes until the final episode when the childhood friend confesses to him.

I normally used to gear towards the childhood friend (still do in a way, thanks Amagami), but there are certain exceptions.

Childhood friend for me

i will choose childhood friend too, it so sad that a girl has been with this main character for so long, and in the mid some girl just show up and steal away the main character.

lol somehow the mangaka will put in storyline that make it feel right for the main character to be together with the new girl or guy. And the children friend will be like some third party that want to break up both of them. horrible >.

Seeing as how almost all my childhood friends I still know are girls, I'd probably me more of the lead female.

childhood friends are more romantic :D, considering that they have lot more memories together.

childhood friend cuz' they have that long history together or maybe both if that possible.

I kind of hate the childhood friend thing, I would go for a different character all together.

The Childhood friend, they already had some good shares of memories together and they quite understand each other in some sense. It's more romantic that way. ALSO those memories of her loli version that you get to play with all the time, isn't that lovely? XD

I usually choose based on personality or whichever one makes my dick hard.

Don't usually care that much - to find personality nice, or her just being plain sexy, you don't need the girl to be childhood friend or a "lead" girl.

Childhood friends can be one jealous maniacs/too meek to ave their lives etc, and some lead girls can be that and pushy-annoying/spoiled/meek as death etc.. I guess, I just don't think about this.

You obviously forgot that childhood friends also become distant over time. If you're still talking into your teens and after you leave school then, fair enough. Usually the distance starts when you go into different schools
