Death Note ending vs Code Geass R2 ending

Heard that Death Note Ending was heart-breaking instead of Code Geass R2 ending.

Although I think it's the reverse, I still wanna hear youropinions.

what do you guys think?

Death note's may have been emotional, but it wasn't that sad or anything like R2.

I'll go for R2 ending. At least it makes lelouch look like some kinda martyr, and hey, it's epic, too. Death Note ending just makes raito look like a pathetic fool...which really ruins my image of him.

ahh my dear u hurt my feelings XD I still like Light Yagami despite all his craziness and his Byronic hero character, coz its out of the ordinary-- well until Lelouch steps forward! lol

but anyways i think we shld not compare the ending I mean Death Note is Death Note Code Geass is Code Geass.

For Death Note, I think most attentive and perceptive readers/watchers would have foresaw his death coming. I know I did, and I wasn't surprised one bit. As for Code Geass, that completely threw me off guard - I did not expect Lelouche to make himself public enemy number one and then get murdered on his throne.

I cried like a little girl at the ending of R2. Not many animes do an ending that well or are as good as Code Geass is in general but damn it was epic.

Yeah, for Death Note i think almost anyone see that coming...but damn, at least they can still make raito died in a more...umm...honorable way. I mean...after all he did, to go as far as playing god...just to beg for his life at the end? Man....I doubt he actually is prepared for the consequences of what he did.

As for Lelouch...yeah, there are many alternatives, but I still think that's the best end possible. And I don't think it's way too easy for him if he actually got away, and just live happily ever after, especially if we consider what he had done...But still, I think lelouch is being naive in the end. He should have known that what he did at best can only bring temporary peace, as time heals all wounds...and closes all scars...

So, I see sunrise making a Code Geass 00, or whatever, with the world is no longer in peace....

... Someone thought that DN's ending was heart-breaking? I don't even want to imagine what kind of person would feel emotional attachment to a character like Light.

Well nothing. It's just surprises me that people exist who call him that. You never see people calling L by the name "Eru", do you?

Hmm...I must agree to that. But well, L is a cool name....and rather obvious that's a nick. Light....ugh. No.

CG R2 ending stomps.

I can see why it would be a bit emotional for the Death Note ending seeing as people were rooting for him and all. But emotionally it's nothing in comparison to R2

CG R2 ending was awsome and i think its far better then Death Note's (altough DN was an awsome masterpiece)

I hate it when people complain about the ending of Death Note (the anime or the manga). It's like everybody completely ignores the fact that Light is a bad guy. The way he died made him look like a little bitch? That's because he was a little bitch. He hid behind the name of Kira, was in-fucking-sane, and didn't care about anybody else. He died like a dog; he got what he deserved.

That, however, does not mean that it was a bad ending.

That, however, does not mean that DN's ending was better than R2's.

Its true when he got his cover blown at the end he was like an idiot. And i know he was the bad guy but thats why i cheered for him. I dont ignore that fact he was a selfish evil person... and i dont think he was a little bitch. He hide behind the name of Kira? Yes of course, what should he do? Go out the streets and shouting "Hey, i'm Light, you know me as Kira! Yeah im Kira" or what? He needed to cover himself up to not be caught... and thats the one thing that the anime was about, we see how it destroys his sanity and makes him believe he is a god. I think he thought himself as Kira and he was hiding behind the name of Yagami Light if i want to use your terms. (and i dont think you would go out and do some serious shit with your real name) He was insane, he was the bad guy, but THAT IS the reason why i cheered for him.

So many animes yet it seems like all the topics I ever see in here are about CG, DN, TTGL, or CB... (and that's merely an observation)

Anyway, Death Note’s ending, as g-money suggested, could easily be seen from miles away. It wasn’t as climatic as I had hoped it’d be (in the anime) but it was still quite fitting nonetheless. Now, the fact that Kira/Light (you know what happened to him) is not what’s unlikable nor disagreeable; but the manner that it was played out.



Code Geass on the other hand is one series that I honestly doubt I can ever force myself to watch. Not gonna bother saying anything about the death of a character I’ve never really gotten to know.

Too much of a comparison huh? But not because did I only see Death Note will I say that it was better as far as “dead-end” is concerned; regardless of my own disappointment, neither does it make the other series the better one of the two.

I feel like I’ve just wasted a minute of my time posting here. It’ll probably be the last post that I’ll ever make in a thread about these series. Seriously, what's next? Who’s got the better OSTs? – Death Note is my answer. If ever Cowboy Bebop is to take part in it, it’s gonna be a tie between the two. (but then again, I also haven’t heard anything from CG’s OST/s)


I had first envisioned him as hope; someone who shall bring drastic change to the world, and so he did. But that hope diminished very soon and was replaced by terror. He became very sick (mentally), thus his sense of justice became twisted in the process. Even so, he’s a character whom we rarely see in the spotlight of an anime series. For that reason, I was even more fascinated in wanting to see just how far could he go on "playing as God".

Shame, for in the end of it all, he was merely but a mortal... "nothing" else
