Death Note Pro Kira or Anti Kira

I'm Pro-Kira mainly because I had wanted as many people wiped out on the face of this planet (seriously, that should have been for the better). I don't give a damn about justice at all! Good and Evil is something that balances everything, there's no such thing/being beyond that (as Kira had only proven himself). Basically, I was simply hoping for the world to change, nothing more, nothing less... yet he failed miserably, in fact he's the one who've changed more than the world itself.

Pro Kira.

Anti-Kira: My basis for this sentiment would be because I fear of having such a power loose in this world - the chaos and structure of society would change drastically, and not for the better. Imagine having a person or multiple people having their hands on an instant death tool - you'll never know if people will use it "correctly" or "ethically". Even the morality and ethics behind the death note was discussed in the Death Note series, and such kind of thing in my opinion should not exist, not if we don't want people killing each other left and right.

I'm not sure. Kira achieved admirable results through devious means. If the ends justify the means, then Kira is good. If they do not, then Kira is evil.

Putting that aside, people acted peaceful in Kira's world, but it was because of fear. Can a society filled with fear really be called peaceful? What if Kira hadn't been caught? He still would have died eventually. Even if it was at the age of 100, he still would have died, and the world would be rid of Kira. I doubt Light would actually train an apprentice to use the Death Note to continue Kira's work. Once he was clearly dead, the world would go back to being filled with crime. All Light, or Kira, could ever do is momentarily stop crime. Within a century, it would be back.

And if Kira did somehow live forever, then humanity would eternally live in fear. Is that a good life? Even the people who don't commit crimes would live in fear, for what if Kira snapped one day and started killing random people? It seems like a horrible existence.

Anyway, I'm Anti-Kira basically because of the same reason mentioned above...rather crime than living in constant fear of being killed.

Anti-Kira, really. At first glance his utopian society may seem like a paradise of order and peacefulness, but even Light admitted that his intention was to rule, to eradicate that which he thought was evil from the world. He already showed signs of immorality in his need to defend himself and his immaturity and arrogance kept him from being anything more than a petty tyrant bent on control.

Had he been able to keep going with no opposition I seriously doubt he would have been able to stop himself from judging. Eventually even minor crimes and crimes of passion would have been enough to get one killed. Eventually it would just be a paranoic society filled with people willing to turn one another in to garner favor with "god". Everything would be monitored in some fashion. People can't live like that. Especially with a "god" that is so very corrupted.

Also, as someone already mentioned, Light would die eventually. Whether or not he would find someone he deemed worthy enough to follow in his footsteps is open for debate. Regardless, though, I think that, eventually, the King of the Shinigami would be spurred to take action if things had carried on too far. Some of the Shinigami had remarked on how many humans were dying. If it had kept going at the rate at which Light had been killing, I'm sure something would have been done. Even if the Shinigami were apathetic beyond belief, there had to be some point at which the King would have taken things into his own hands to stop the abuse of one of his Death Notes.

I`m pro Kira in his effort to make his dream true, but will kill him cause I`m evil and I don`t believe world would be better without conflict.

even if one were to take a Utilitarian approach (the small can be sacrificed for the good of the many) Lights actions were not justifiable.
The Only man on Earth who seemed to benefit from the actions Of Kira, was Kira himself.

If killing was not seen as negative ... then both the reason Kira killed and Kira killing would not be seen as despicable. But it is, and so, without a doubt, light should be regarded as anything but a hero.

Although, from a philosophical perspective, one would be able to make the argument that only in the extreamist cases would a "Utopian Society" really exist. Because of the nature of Mankind, unless we are constricted, we tend to act deviantly. 1984, brave new world, Death note. In all currently read literature, individuals have to be pushed down for Utopia to be pushed up.

For those who are Pro-Kira: Utopia is not reachable people, the "original Position" described by Hobbs, Mill & Rousseau would be the only Utopian vision, and that goes the instant that free will is imposed upon by rules and other people.

But the Idea of a crime free world is a good thing sure he had to kill a few good people but that's just par for the corse.

As for the constant fear of death. Well thats wouldn't be a problem if you were a good person. He only killed criminals and people trying to catch him.

Pro-Kira. Still, Anti-Light since the moment he yelled at Misa. Kira is a symbolic figure, and does not resemble Light in person.

Let's see... there are various kinds of crimes, which often come with a reason. Yet, under Kira's judgement they're all the same. Now she's a widow and raises her two kids alone because their father tried to rob a bank in a desperate act of preventing them from ending up homeless.

But it's common knowledge that, to reach goals of a certain degree, sacrifices have to be made, which may or may not be actually fine.

So let's say Light finds himself someone to continue the ideology of Kira and dies at some point due to him being all old and grumpy and dying out of guilt when that leather shoe which he throws out of the window after all those noisy neightbour kids actually hit someone on the head and the kid starts to cry - and after some generations this utopia world may actually been reached - what happens from that point on? Probably society's all better and stuff and everyone's happy, but that still does not change the fact that inevitably everyone dies at some point. So basically, on the long run, nothing changed at all. But at least he makes some good history, which is definitely a pro.

Kira's intentions were righteous, but his methods for changing the world was based on fear and control. Since I don't believe in dictatorships, I can't be a supporter of Kira. It was also hinted that he wouldn't stop at executing just murderers. He would keep narrowing down the tolerance level until people are too scared to do anything (He was already demonstrating this throughout the entire series towards the innocent people trying to catch him). The perfect world Kira was trying to create was just an illusion, a subjective fabrication of a narcisistic perfectionist.

Some of the people trying to catch him were still innocent. He only killed them because he wasn't good enough. If he had true scruples, he would have found a way to elude them without killing them.

Also, murder will never stop. In Kira's world, one would simply die if they committed murder. That just means fewer people across the world. It'd be easy to kill a dozen people and not be killed by Kira because the police don't know who you are. Plus, crimes of passion would still exist, like a husband murdering his wife's lover.

Not having this Death Note-like power would circumvent many moral/ethical issues that are being discussed here. However, it is true that because of Kira, he did wipe out a good portion of criminals regardless of means or motives. I think it would be better off if such power didn't exist. A society based on fear wouldn't amount to anything except imminent doom.

i'm pro-kira. what he does/did is righteous in most ways. and i love is vindictive killing spree. i need powers like that for when i rule the world

Not that so much I'm against Kira, but when WE look at Kira, we think "Holy Shit, he's such a bad person!"
But let's say that we had such power. Can you really say you wouldn't do the same?
Don't answer, but what you say, and what you would really do are likely two completely different things.

So, basically, I'd probably do what Kira did if I had that power, but I think he's a bad person right now, as I DON'T have such power.
