Depressing Anime Marathon

So a bunch of my friends and I are planning to have a depressing anime marathon Christmas party (no we're not a bunch of emos, we just felt like doing this). We're currently trying to compile a list of titles that we can finish in 1 day. TV series, movies and OVAs are all acceptable.

Here are some that we are considering:

If you have any suggestions, please put them down. Please note that we are only doing 1 day, so something like Rose of Versailles (40 eps) is out of the question.

fucking every other anime ever since 90% are 13 or 26 eps long.

I forgot Elfen Lied.
Green Green isn't really sad. We want stuff that will make us cry manly tears. Stuff that will make a grown man bawl his eyes out... Or at least stuff that will just make us sad. Really really sad.

Clannad, Fuko arc. That is all.

Gunslinger Girl ain't half bad, either.

Angel Beats has some great moments in it, but I think it tried to cram too much into a limited airing season. Great music from it, though.

We were considering Clannad, but then we realized that we've all watched it too many times...
Angel Beats is again, not really sad, and neither is Natsume Yuujinchou. Tokyo Magnitude can go on the list though. Myself; Yourself is already on the list...



We'll put Gunslinger Girl onto the list. It's not outright depressing, but still kind of sad.
Agreed on Angel Beats. It had potential to be much greater if made into 24-26 eps. Music was awesome.

School Days has a depressing aura to it.

Put into consideration. Though my group of friends have differing opinions on this one. Some find it funny how much of an ass Makoto is.

Bokura Ga Ita (anime series), Rurouni Kenshin Trust and Betrayal (animated movie), and Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru/ I'm in love with my younger sister (animated movie).


*Grave of the Fireflies is probably the saddest movie I've ever seen.

Yes! I forgot that one. One of the most beautiful yuri story ever.

Maybe Kanon? Of if you're looking for something shorter, Air? (I haven't personally watched Air yet, but I heard it is quite the downer).

What you should do instead is watch really bad anime a la Mystery Science Theater style.

Haha, that is definitely not a bad idea, either. I was watching some MST 3000 yesterday. :)
