Do you consider 'The Boondocks' an anime?

Well, do you?
It has the stylized art of anime, and the big eyes, and blah blah...

A lot of my friends don't consider it an anime, solely because it wasn't made in Japan.

Whatever, what do you guys think?

I mean yeah it does have the anime style, but is that a reason for it to be called anime? I don't think so, I mean if you did then other shows like Avatar: The Last Air Bender and these other shows (some shows about spies on Cartoon Network, I don't know the names, nor do I really care) would also have to be considered anime simply because the use the anime animation style. Just my two cents...

The cartoon wasn't originally targeting a Japanese audience, like Avatar Last Airbender so it's not anime, just has a similar art style. However, if this is true then Korean manga Kuro Kami was animated by Japan that had an audience of... - oh my god i don't even know. It just seems like a giant whole of flaws and inconsistencies.

Okay let me try again. Audience and origin of Boondocks is America. No I can't do this. I feel like an idiot trying to make a barrier between what is anime and what isn't, even though I want one.

How about if it's origin comes from Asia and it's target audience is Asia and it gets dubbed into other languages like English or German it's anime?

Not made in Asia, let alone Japan, not an Anime. It's a cartoon.

Most people accept the definition of the word Anime as Japanese Animation so no Boondocks is not Anime just because it borrows it's art style from Anime who took inspiration from the early cartoons made by Disney such as Betty Boo. In reality Anime is just meant to be a shortened version of the word Animation but it's taken on a new meaning to it's audiences.

That aside I applaud Boondocks for trying to make our cartoons a little more adult and a little less i live in a Pineapple under the sea.

It does have one thing in common with some anime. The animation is outsourced to Koreans.

Family Guy is outsourced to Koreans too right? Both shows center around US themes so I do not consider them anime.

For me, to qualify as anime the idea has to come from someone in the East. Otherwise its a cartoon.

oh so heroman isnt anime to you? personal opinions are personal opinions i cant change them and dont intend to but think it could be considered anime(anime IS a "abbreviation"[not exactly but we know want shooting for] animation), also im not sure but isnt the animation team from asia(personally thats all it takes for me)

I would say it was influenced by the Japanese animation style, but I don't consider it anime per say.

Not to mention, it pokes fun at different races and subcultures like a lot of animes do. How many people remember one of the yugioh cards in japan that had the German "peace" sign on the graves?

You know those characters in animes that always have their eyes closed?
They always are considered to be Chinese I believe.

Heroman is obviously an anime. Heck, why would it have Japanese as its native language, even though the setting's practically in LA (w/c it was based) :D

Plus, the manga appears in Monthly Shōnen Gangan. It's only that Stan Lee wrote up the basic plot for it, and that's that.

I consider 'The Boondocks' to be an Anime but thats just me, I think this mainly because of the style of the animation.

It's based on a comic strip (which yes, has anime influence but is just a newspaper comic) so it becomes a cartoon by default when animated. imo...

here is another question, if Code Gease or Inuyasha were to be outsorced in the USA and animated by a team of Japanese and american animators but aired in Japan would it still be considered anime?

It's an animation isn't it? So wouldn't it be considered a type of anime?

It all depends on how you define 'anime' - the Japanese consider ALL animation as anime, regardless of its place of origin, but in the west anime is usually defined as Japanese animation, and as such Boondocks would not be considered anime.

Personally, I think its a pointless argument - whether or not its worth watching is all that really matters.
