Ever get put down for not liking a mainstream anime series?

What exactly constitutes a mainstream anime?

I believe the Big Three aka. Bleach, Naruto and One Piece.

I thought it was something that had hype thus creating a big fan base. Must have big popularity. Merchandise would also appear due to this. Advertised and shown on TV.

Oh yeah. And apparently you guys went ahead a created a thread labeled I like Naruto. Too bad it didn't go just as keikaku (planned).

Why the hell would I get put down for not watching something mainstream?

Nope, never got put down for not liking a main stream anime series. Were I live I’m the only person with fast enough internet speed to watch anime, so I doubt my friends even know which anime series are mainstream.

Naruto didn't turn sour because it went on too long. It's because they couldn't keep the writing up and eventually ended up giving into the filler plots. Which are a damn bore fest.

I don't like Pokemon, I got put down for it a couple of times.

Was part of a forum that had a troll who gushed all over Naruto but called anyone who watched any sort of anime a loser.

Yes, I have. Too much talking and not enough fighting is my primary argument (mostly since in my sense, I find it stupid to wait for a villain to finish his monologue when you can just as easily filet him like a dead fish in that same amount of time).

it's the filler plots that killed it for me...i just don't want to keep up with it and the real actual storyline.Way too much trouble.

I do dislike a lot of main stream anime and I very rarely find any anime I enjoy in the present.
The only new series I enjoy is Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt.
I hate, One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, Soul Eater and many more mainstream material.
It feels like the anime industry has crashed and burned.
It's hard to find a show that actually treats the audience as mature and intelligent individuals.
Sure I like a nonsensical comedy like Panty and Stocking but not all the time.


I posted this in another thread but to save time I will just copy and past it.

I hate most anime today because it all feels the same and bland. Creators are working to hard to be distinguished. They creator over the top nonsensical stories with unrealistic characters spread thin with one overbearing behavioral trait.
And they always seem to have smart kids in control while the adults are idiots.
They should start on a small scale story and build within it.
But instead they go for large scales and spread it thin with what little material they have.

Till I show them what good anime is.

I generally tend not to associate with fans of mainstream anime because it is incredibly difficult to find fans of mainstream anime who aren't complete morons.

Perhaps I'm just looking in the wrong places.
