Rinoa was totally haxxored. I mean, one spell has the ability to freeze thousands of gallons of lava - that's magic on a massive scale. And the ability to create a tornado vortex, magically manipulate objects from movement to teleportation, and the fact that she uses a gunblade (not Lionheart, which is blue), she's totally haxxed and can whup any of the girls there. But of course, if that happened, there'd be no plot and no action, thus no Dead Fantasy.

As I watch Tifa's scenes and read up on her bio, I've really come to like her persona. Besides the fact that she has massive jugs and can kick your ass in hand-to-hand combat, she has a motherly personality who cares for others but is emotionally hard on herself and can dish out the pain when needed. A very close history with Cloud too, which makes me think the scene where Cloud is chasing after Tifa on the cliff with his old buster blade was intentionally put as a nod to the FFVII series and some of the history.

There's no doubt that Monty has a special preference for Rinoa. I like her myself, and she's in my top 5 list of favorite FF girls. Overall, I like the FF girls over the DOA girls simply because the FF franchise was well established before Team Ninja sold their top-selling series of DOA and spinoffs like the Ninja Gaiden series.

Came several times. I still can't believe he did it all by himself. Unbelivable.

@Kuroneko1/2: it's why I had to dedicate a thread to him. He's so friggin awesome, that he's awesome defined. In fact, he's so awesome that I created a separate folder for his works in on my external hard drive in my videos stuff folder. Epicness is epic.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious Monty really likes Rinoa. She's the only one given abilities which exceed those of her game self (flying AND telekinesis?!). Monty seems to like Tifa a lot too, since he had Tifa bust in and kick three opponents in one fell swoop, not to mention the Haste and Stop craziness. It's hard to tell if he likes Hitomi better though considering DF3.

@voltampirs: it was like Cloud's limit breaker featured in Advent Children without the multiple blades combined with a super energy kamehameha-like blast akin to Wing Zero's gun blast. Her angel like wings made also gave her the look like Wing Zero Custom from the OVA Gundam Wing Endless Waltz.

@ZeroOBK: I have my desktop set to a highly stylized version of Rinoa made by Monty. It is obvious that he favors her a lot. Well, I thought Yuna was underplayed in her abilities in contrast to Rinoa's totally ass-kicking haxxored powers which completely outstrip her game abilities at a single glance.

As for Tifa, that's the thing. When Tifa jumps in at the end of Dead Fantasy I, in the second DF her being on the FF girls' side made it obvious who was going to win. Tifa literally kicked their asses and it wasn't until Rachel joined in that it tipped in the DOA girls favor. Then again, it became 4 vs 3. Then Rinoa AND Kairi jumped in, so it was like 4 vs 9 because Rinoa has the power of 5 or more. The thing was that Tifa was literally cleaning their clocks in DF2, but all of the sudden in DF3 Hitomi goes blind and is somehow able to counter every one of Tifa's moves despite being blind, knock out materia in Tifa's posession, and even utilizing the materia ~ whaaat??? A total complete 180, and it just set up Tifa to fall at Hayate's knees, that dick. I'm meh about Hitomi, I'd prefer Kokoro, which to me seems Hitomi has based some of her moves from Kokoro's Baji quan fighting style and Lei-Fang's Tai chi quan fighting style.

@g-money Come to think of it would have been nice if it was Lei-Fang instead of Hitomi it would've been an interesting matchup. But since the series isn't over yet and there is still some more girls Monty can add in the Tecmo lineup it can still happen. Though I'd still root for Tifa! And can't wait for Cloud to beat Hayate's ass.... He's begging for an Omnislash.

I wouldn't want to add anymore characters to the series to be honest. Too much shit going on, with many intersecting plots. We've yet to see Ayane vs. Riku, though I feel that that match is very evenly matched. Ninpu skills vs. White Magic skills, and stealth vs. thievery, and speed is about the same. Both use two-bladed weapons.

It wasn't like Tifa owning Hitomi's ass in DF2 and then Hitomi owning Tifa's ass in DF3 - I had better not see bullshit like that happen in my Ayane vs. Riku match.

Point taken. I agree that adding more to the roster would further complicate the story it's just that the past 2 duels got spoiled (Kasumi vs Yuna: Clones and Cloud, Tifa vs Hitomi: Fag Hayate and the ninja crew) so I was thinking that it's likely someone might butt-in again.

I remember reading somewhere that Rinoa was his girlfriends favorite character, thus the haxxor moves.

I think he gets inspiration from some asian movies for the fight scenes. There's a few things that seem familiar t me.

And some Western movies as well according to my friend. The dive Tifa, Yuna and Rikku did in DF2 reminded him of Charlie's Angels. ^_^

That dive in DF2 made me think damn, the soles of their shoes must be made of win material to withstand shearing forces and friction at over, what, 9.8 MPH?

@Tsujoi: definitely. I especially noted the drunken fist technique employed on screen by Jackie Chan and the butterfly kick employed most famously by Jet Li. Hell, even Tifa does a german suplex on Hitomi and slamming her through a chunk of debris.

Though I can't find it for download, it really is a great piece of work with lots of symbolism and references.

As for Dead Fantasy, the only that'll fuel that discussion is once we see the new video. I can only hope he brings a stellar performance with his new video and see some awesome action of Riku vs. Ayane. But since all the main male heroes have showed up, with exception of Tidus and Squall and maybe some others that don't come to mind, I can't imagine any other guys barging in on the Riku vs. Ayane fight with the exception of FF guys. On the DOA side, the male guys with a close relationship with Ayane have already been used up.

Always nice to see more Monty Oum stuff. Although Flashback Tifa's outfit always looks odd when its applied to a better model than her PSX blocky self.

@ZeroOBK: I just rewatched these vids from the downloaded version I got, and there's definitely a difference in modeling and texture when comparing the two vids. The Gee video was not as detailed as the Obsessed video, and Tifa is much hotter in the Obsessed video with muscle and skin tones.

I liked Tifa's outfit in the videos. I didn't think anything was odd to it in terms of the render (not that I'm an expert in 3D rendering). Cowgirls are welcome anyday.
