Favourite school life anime

These are mine:
Maho Sensei Negima (The current chapters may not be in the Mahora Gakuen now, but when it started it definitly was. This series has EVERYTHING, Magic, Martial Arts, Swordplay, Ninja, Vampires, Robots, and Ken Akamatsu manages to do it all at the same time and do it WELL. The frank and logical Chisame Hasegawa is one of my Favorite Manga characters as you can see by my Avatar, and Negi is the strongest fucking 10 year old I've ever seen).
Sayonara, Zetsubou Sensei (I just started watching it, but I still have to put it down. It has in my opinion, the best art style of any Anime I've ever watched, and I just love the language based humor and puns concerning the Girl's names, and the satire in the show as well. Not to mention that everybody in this series, with VERY few exceptions, is batshit insane).
Bakemonogatari (Another Shaft Anime. I might as well tell you that Shaft Inc. is my favorite Anime Studio. Just like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, it has the same (but not exactly the same) 2 hits of Acid kind of Animation style, with infinitly interesting characters and a very engaging story. And Hitagi Senjogahara. No other series has Hitagi Senjogahara).
Clannad (I guess It counts. It mostly takes place in a School Life setting. While it goes without saying that the later half of After Story is absolutely brilliant and absolutely tear jerking, the parts that still take place in School are great as well. With really fun episodes like the Basketball episode, and really emotional/sad arcs that still take place in school like Kotomi's, Mei's and Yukine's arcs. Tomoyo's arc was also amazing (It wasn't expecially sad, but it was a great story about a great character. Even before the later half of After Story, Clannad is still an awesome series).
I also love Azumanga Daioh, Lucky Star, Kanon, K-ON, and Bamboo Blade, but I don't have the energy to do explanations for each one.

Yeah I'm going with School Rumble. Great comedy, romance, characters, and action.

School rumble was awesome and hilarious. Too bad season 3 was weirdly ended.
I wont say Clannad because even though they were at school, the story didn't really revolve around the school. Plus, Clannad is the best at everything so it doesn't count.
Toradora is also great. But sometimes I had trouble suspending my disbelief for the amount of drama these kids had. And yes, I know the drama in Toradora was nothing compared to Clannad but still, somehow it just felt like it was out of control at certain points.
In the end though, School Rumble is one of the best "school" animes/manga.

When it comes to purely and mainly school life, you know GTO wins it.
edit: I just realized it said "Anime". When it's anime, Clannad and Lucky Star take it.
When it comes to manga (since the anime was awesome, but the manga is far more awesome), GTO wins it with no competitors
