I just got finished watching the first episode, and I'm feeling an utter state of euphoria right now. Madhouse blew me away with this first episode, and I really felt as if I was a part of the zombie apocalypse, with the unforgiving atmosphere, and the tension created by both the animation and the music. Plus, there were amazing pantie shots, so how could a series be bad with those?
When that piece of chalk fell...I knew stuff was going down.
One of the most pivotal moments of the show for me was
when the two girls were holding hands, and then the one was grabbed by the zombie. I was shocked that the other friend just used her to get away, but during a crisis, people can act in strange ways. That moment made me realize that this was real, and that most would not get out of this situation.
Character wise, I can feel a lot of potential for Takashi. He seems really strong, but still cares for the well-being of others.
He took care of his best friend, Hisashi, even though it was probably one of the hardest decisions of his life. Even though he slapped Rei, it was for a good reason. She was being hysterical, and she wouldn't have listened to him otherwise. I also found it bittersweet that she only wanted Takashi after her boyfriend became the undead, but maybe she finally realized that Takashi is the only one for her after all? I'm hoping that we'll learn a bit more about their history as time goes on.
I'm also really interested in Saeko and Shizuka. Can't wait to see more of them and more of this show!
