Too much fan service, detracted from any seriousness that you could still take from the tired 'zombie survivor' angle. They threw in panty shots when people were being eaten, for Christ's sake. Even if it is true to the manga, there's a difference between being provocative and gratuitous; the way they threw panty shots and bouncing boobs casually into tragic situations...it's like wearing a gimp mask to a funeral. That and the whole episode seemed rushed; they were clearly trying to get all of the setting out of the way to make room for the story, but it sped along so quickly that the characters seemed to discard any apprehension or confusion about the situation within seconds of it happening, the episode morphing into short bouts of inconsequential action sandwiched between a lot of running. And moar panty shots.
I haven't given up on this series yet, not by any means. There’s a lot to like here, and a lot to build on. I just hope that they focus either mainly on the character bonding and story expansion or on the action and tragedy, because if the series continues at the current mixed message, H-Guro inspired level, I really couldn’t take it.
Yeah I think you came to this anime expecting the wrong things, it's meant to have a stupid amount of fanservice, it's meant to be fast paced.
The whole point of the story really is just some mindless fun, it's your typical fun zombie end of the world story full of over the top animated tits. Sure it's something we may of all seen before but I personally haven't seen something like this done for an anime series so it'll certainly be fun.
This isn't to say the characters stay stupid, they do get development and we do see the more twisted points people will lower to in such a situation.
I personally love the fast pace, I don't care how the dude just killed his best friend, especially considering how little air time or introduction we were given, we just want to see some mad gore, fanservice and craziness.
Besides with Naruto around it feels like a god send for a character to get over something in less than a minute.
