hobbies are addictions that you choose to have.
i myself have lots of these....
funny how they say smoking is an addiction. but i have smoked cigars before, and i don't feel the urge to light up all the time.
That's not what they mean by "it's an addiction". I myself smoke about a pack a day (that's 25/20 cigarettes per day) and I can for sure say it's a physical addiction (and an intense one at that). Just because you've smoked a few cigars doesn't mean you're addicted. It takes about 3 packs of cigarettes within a 7 day period or even more packs of cigarettes over a longer period of time in order for one to become addicted.
There is a huge difference between a "mental" addiction and a "physical" addiction. Tobacco contains nicotine. Nicotine attaches receptors inside the tissue within your body and sends signals to the brain telling you that you need more Nicotine (why? Because the receptors will die without it). That's called a physical addiction.
Mental addictions are far easier to overcome than physical ones. Having what you believe is an "addiction" to anime is all inside of your head, you only think you crave it because you want to crave it. Your mind is so used to it that it will feel incomplete without having it there every once in a while.
A hobby is not an addiction, it is simply something that you as a human enjoy doing and constantly partake in.
ugh i don't mean it in black and white terms. im actually commenting on smoking commercials and people saying, "smoking anything like cigars and cigarettes and drugs will get you hooked the first time"
i know its not true hence why i stated that.
and when i say a hobby is an addiction, i don't mean its like an addiction like drinking or smoking, but in the terms its something you do, and some people take it to extremes and make it their whole life.
and all you just said, i already know that. i was just stating a vague example. sorry for the confusion
