How do you feel about your hobbies?

Yeah. I get some odd looks from my girl friends when I hentai comes up in conversation (I tend not to talk about it without some sort of context, not gonna just sing its praises at random moments lol!)... after all, being a girl and liking pornographic stuff is still kinda taboo. But guys who I meet are always somewhat impressed/embarrassed! XD

I am starting to think that taboo is starting to go away. There are way more girls
on this site than there was a couple of months ago. I think its great that girls are
taking an interest in a hobby that is made up of mostly a male demographic.

Well, my main two hobbies are anime and music; if you stepped foot in my room you would immediately know this. I don't necessarily broadcast it (unless you count A-Theory) when in public, but if I can squeeze myself into a conversation or hear someone rattling off things that are incorrect/uninformed, I tend to speak up. I think my hobbies are one of the few things that make life worthwhile and therefore am somewhat "protective" of them, if that makes any real sense.

I also am enjoying the recent influx of female hentai fans, if just because it means that there's differing viewpoints and/or creative input. "salutes the fairer sex"

I am ashamed of my main hobbies, gaming and reading. (I like hentai but not anime.) For years now I have kept both a secret. Just recently, I began telling others about my interests. I really avoid telling female friends about them because I feel that girls are more judgmental and would view me quite differently if they knew I love MMOs, etc. Girls are catty! (A good majority of them, anyways.) I'm more comfortable sharing my secret with boys because
1) They're more likely to share my interests
2) Less judgmental

I have not told anyone IRL that I enjoy hentai. Although two friends do know that I watch "porn", I left out the part where I prefer 2D boobies.

Acting and music are my biggest passions, so I tend to mention them first, THEN I mention my interest in video games and anime. Not for any particular reason, just coincidence I suppose.

From what I've noticed many anime fans are not exactly the most outgoing people(I'm not trying to generalize this is simply my experience). Because of this I try to were anime tee-shirts and approach people who are browsing the anime/manga section of book, video, and comic book stores. This way normally if I am approached they know I have an interest in anime/manga or I know they do if I'm approaching them. Due to the fact that anime/manga is such a big hobby of mine I rarely have to tell anyone that I'm into it. Normally people will come to that conclusion them-selfs from observing me reading a manga or watching an anime on my laptop in public. Therefore to answer your question. I share it with others my being very open about my activities and indulging in my interests in front of others.

I'm asked, "what anime do you like?" far more often than, "So, what is anime?"

It's 2010 Anime/Hentia is the norm now ^_^

I like my hobbies. I'm really straight forward when people ask what I like.

I somehow don't tell my usual hobbies to someone I know because I'm afraid that he/she would think that I'm a nerd or something like that and would make fun of me.

Well if I noticed that the person has the same hobbies as mine then I would probably tell him.

I don't really tell anyone my hobbies... aside from games and music, nobody really needs to know how much I'm into hentai and porn. One of my friends knows I like it, but not to the true extent. A day spent fapping is a good day to me, but not to many others.

I tell them that i like anime but im not guna tell them that i like Hentai because everyone dont need to know my fetishes. Cuz i bet ive meet people who are into crapin on each other but didnt know it and i dont need to know it.

in the past used to be secretive about it,but now I'm pretty open about it.I would tell you if you asked me in person lol.

Just that wished there were more people as interested ^^

I share it once I get to know people. You can't just toss it out at once because then there is a possibility some people will be all freaked or something.

Rebuttal: Ah, but then they aren't truly your friends if they can't accept that you like anime now are they?

Counter: Partially true. There are things that people just don't need to know about yet; there are times when to talk about certain subjects. Imagine your best fri-... No I'm going into that.

If they do ask for hobbies, I just say I like stories and my other hobbies. If they ask for clarification, then yeah I'm going to have to names some shows like Clannad and explain it's a japanese show.

What I say when people ask about my hobbies:
"I like to read Japanese Graphic novels, watch Japanese cartoons, sing Japanese songs, read, write, draw, and sleep".

Pretty much direct.

i just say i read alot of manga and watch anime that i deem interesting. though if they ask me anymore i usually just say i play games aswell. as to the content of some of these games....most of the things i do are pg/15 rated :)

i have two hobbies, playing videogames and airsoft. one is accepted, the other one is unknown so people think i'm a virgin loser for playing it. once i show them my airsoft guns they change their minds. if i tell them about the camo and stuff, they say "oh, you use costumes" and i answer "yeah, same costumes you use when you play soccer. i mean, ¿wearing ronaldo or messi's shirt isn't necessary, is it?"

also, when people ask me about anime and manga, i say "i don't watch anime anymore (which is true) but i read manga. i love the stories. i'm not an otaku tho"

when i liked anime, i'd say "i like anime. i watch it like you watch lost or Dr. House"
