I personally hate it.
I feel it doesn't belong in anime and if it is it should be in ecchi. If its in an ecchi its not really fan service though, its just the show.

It gets annoying, especially recently. (And by that, I mean the past few years.)
I cannot watch any show without expecting to see at least one (often, several) chicks with huge tits and a lot of cleavage. Yeah, I love tits, but most of these titty monster characters are bland and exist for the sole purpose of having big tits. It's horrible.

If its not in every episode of an anime i dont have a problem with it, but if you compare the Rosario+Vampire Manga with the anime ..you know what i mean.
I dont want to badmouth R+V of course, but there are many animes that are even more like this..for example Sekirei (and im still waiting for S2...)
Long story short; i dont like it if there is too much. But not a problem when theres only from time to time.

I usually find it to be fine as long as it's not over done, personally I hate most ecchi because there is to much of it. Like one or two pantie flashes in a fight is fine but most ecchi will have like 10-20 in one fight and it get's irritating.
So it doesn't matter as long as it flows well then it's all good.

I've never been bothered by fanservice, though I have sometimes wondered "was that really necessary?"
Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu was a prime example, where they seemed to have added her sister for the explicit reason of pantyshots. It didn't really detract, but it wasn't particularly exciting either. Season 2, on the other hand actually did a pretty good job with ecchi content (lots of actual jokes centered around sexual tension) and failed the rest of the show.
And there are are shows like Ladies vs Butlers. If they're going to show a girl reflecting on her day, it works just as well to have her thinking in the bath as in a public place.
Dragonaut the Resonance was the only show I can think of where the ecchi content was seriously a problem.

It depends on the use and context for me. So long as it's integrated into the story as a smaller part I don't mind it. It can be fun. If it starts overpowering the story, however, and you see something every frame it gets very boring and in poor taste. If you find yourself asking "why did they just put that in?" then it's probably too much.

I actually dont like Fan service. Recent animes are full of it, one of the main reasons I stopped watching anime for half a year and kept playing VNs instead. Animes with actual good story is pretty rare nowadays, and I wont waste time to "trial" them. I wait for people to recommend me the good ones, good story ones.

I don't care if there is fan service or not. Only thing I care about is that if there is a good storyline and likeable characters.

I was fine with it until i saw R + V Capu2. THOSE DAMN BATS!!! I stopped watching the show halfway through because of that.

I guess it depends on the anime. Like there was some in Clannad I think and that's good. The small ones that aren't actually fan-serviced based are good. There was a small panty shot in Sora no Woto and that was a win.
But to completely watch something full of fan-service... Maybe...

I personally don't mind fanservice in non ecchi anime as long as it doesn't appear so much to the point where I start paying attention more to the chick's boobs rather than the storyline.

When it comes to fanservice and ecchi content, I don't care too much, as long as it ISN'T THE MAIN FOCUS of the Anime/Manga. One of the reasons I love Negima (I mean the Manga) is Ken Akamatsu's careful blending of fanservice with dramatic story lines and kick-ass action sequences. The thing that makes it work is that the serious stuff is kept SEPARATE from the comedy, which makes heavy use of fanservice. Other examples are TMoHS (with it's blend of interesting characters, great story and Moe/fanservice elements) and Bakemonogatari (the story is pretty good, but it's the characters, and specificaly the amazingly written dialogue that make the series shine, along with sprinkles of fanservice). To use a a very recent example, I can even take Seikon no Qwaser (specificaly the Manga, I can already tell from just 3 episodes that the Anime is inferior) because even though the heroes and villains (the Qwasers) derive their power from a VERY ecchi source (breast milk. Seriously, I kid you not when I say that, I couldn't make shit like that up) the Manga at least doesn't slouch at all in other areas, like character development and the awesome fight scenes. And also there's the whole thing in the series that boobs, and by extension breast milk, represents life and the giving of life, and this whole thing about an Orthodox Christian Icon showing Mary breast feeding a baby Jesus, etc, etc. In short, I can tolerate, and even enjoy fanservice if it isn't the main point of a series, or there is a GOOD reason for it.
On the other hand, series like Ikkitousen, Eiken or Green Green I have a MAJOR problem with. There comes a point when there is just TOO MUCH fanservice. The series above are definetly that case, expecialy with Ikkitousen. A little pro tip: putting gratuitous fanservice in dramatic scenes KILLS TENSION!!!!! There's a line at which there is so much fanservice that it's insulting. These series don't just cross that line, they FLY over it, ass out, boobs exposed. Shows like this insult my intelligence. If I wanted JUST boobs and JUST ass, I'll just look at an H-doujin or H-manga. Why do you think I'm here on this site!? If I'm just in the mood for some boobs and some pussy, I don't go to fanservice Anime and Manga, I go to places like FAKKU. Because even on the subject of fanservice, H-doujin and H-manga are MUCH better in that regard. I read and watch Anime/Manga for other reasons besides tits and pussy. I'm willing to take it within reason, or if there's a valid reason, but Jesus, there should be a limit, before it's just an H-anime, H-manga, or H-doujin.

IM OFFENDED!!! Ikkitousen was a BADASS show! And as a defender of all things badass, i must disagree with you! Eiken was really fukin dumb, but Ikkitousen?! The fight scenes in that show more than made up for the ridiculous amounts of fanservice. And you eventually come to expect that whenever a girl gets punched, her shirt gets shredded.
And the dvd extras were hentai, just softcore. They had a whole bath house episode where you got to see everything :)

What about stuff where sex itself is the focal point of the anime/manga?
Kanokon is primarily about two animal spirits seducing a kid with varying degrees of success and comedic failure.
Futari Ecchi is about a newlywed couple in experiencing the ups and downs of sex while living together.
Yomeiro Choice is about a guy who has three daughters come back in time from alternate futures to get him to shack up with their respective mothers.
Koibana Onsen is about a group of people managing a resort tailored to romantic getaways.
There's a lot of stuff that's pretty solid comedy that if you removed the ecchi, there's be nothing left. For the record, the comedy in Eiken wasn't remotely solid... that show was just terrible. Never read the manga.

I don't really know that much about the examples you're giving, except Futari Ecchi. And Futari Ecchi is more like a how-to book on sexual technique, that just happens to have a story. But I already said before with my example of Seikon no Qwaser, if there is a GOOD and VALID reason for fanservice and overtly sexual content, then I don't have a problem with it (my problem is when there is just WAY TOO much for any common decency, or when it is injected unnessisarily into serious scenes, like in Ikkitousen).

To an extent it's fine, even refreshing when put in as comedic at the right time. When they put it in at wrong times, it can destroy the scene or even the story if done way too much. Overall I have no problem with it, just in particular ones where it's done overkill, most of which were mentioned here.
